speed governor on 94 formula
i have a 94 formula a-4. the car is governed at 108 which really sucks. i guess it was because my car came with h-rated tires from the factory, or thats what someone told me. anyways is there any cheap way of over riding the governor or do i have to get my pcm programed and get it deleted?

pcm reprogramming for a 94 starts at about $50 and will gain you a lot more than just the speed limiter raising so just do it.
Might be a way to wire the fuel pump to stay on even after the pcm commands it off(that is how the stock limiter works) but to wire something like that up safely and eff3edtively I bet you spend nearly what the pcm work costs and all it would gain you is complexity and the limiter defeat so it would be far from worth it.

I will trust you and that makes a whole lot of sense. The fuel pump is just what I had always heard and either way it is and feels like running out of fuel. It does eliminate any chance of hotwiring the fuelpump in order to bypass the limiter which brings us right back to pcm reprogramming. I find it increadibly frustrating how people try to avoid that part of modding a computer controlled powertrain.
As far as who does tuning, Ed Wright is the original LT1 tuning guru, madz28.com was already linked once, and pcmforless.com gets good reviews too and is who I am currently using. Especially with a stockish car you can not go wrong with any of these three. Ed is in or near Tulsa, Bryan of pcmforless is near Philly, and Ion of Madz28 is near Chicago. There are a lot of other places that can competently do this too those are just going to be the big 3 and all offer mailorder work so you don't have to bring the car to them.

Unplug it right at the tranny, and he tucked it up, and used a zip tie to keep the tail from any moving parts. It didnt cause any problems other than his MPH gauge didnt work (since the speed comes from the tranny). Like I said, he even picked up some power for some reason.

I can do that for you anywhere around Atl for real cheap. $30 and I'll change whatever you want. I can meet you somewhere and have it done in a few minutes so you don't even need to take off your PCM or anything.
Btw, I just did this to my car (also a 94 TA) with no issues. Send me a PM if interested.
