Default Delteq Optispark "Eliminator"

I've been looking at the Delteq Ignition setup. A bit misleading, but it looks like you still have to use the Opti for it's optical sensor in order for this ignition to work. What I'm wondering is if it would be possible to eliminate the Opti altogether if I ran an aftermarket crank trigger like an MSD Flying Magnet?

Anybody done this with a Delteq?

They have a Stage 2 version that does eliminate the opti all together. I know it was delayed in coming out but surely it has been released by now.

The pcm NEEDs the opti signal. So you need to either run another computer setup or graft the optical stuff to another setup. I have heard of them being mated with HEIs that would be a royal pain in an f-body though. If Delteq has managed to eliminate the opti entirely I wonder what they are doing about the signal for the pcm?

I run the delteq on my car and love it. I went ahead and went with the delteq even though there was nothing wrong with my opti. And not only did I gain power (have dyno #'s) but I also improved my ET.

But you guys are alittle misslead. With the delteq you still need to keep your opti. Because it needs to send the signal to the pcm and icm to tell the coil packs when to fire. So you can actually remove the cap and rotor from your opti.

Delteq has not released their stage 2 yet. And trust me guys, the optical sensor on the opti isnt the problem with the opti. The cap and rotor is the main reason why opti's fail. Most folks don't replace their till theirs crap out, and corriosion ends up building up, and can even attack the the metal wheel that the optical sensor reads. So once you move to the delteq you eliminate the main cause of opti failures.

They would have to design somthing similar to a crank trigger of some type to get eliminate the opti completly. And I really don't know how the heck they are going to be able to send a low res and high res signal from a device like that. Since most the time you goto a crank trigger system, you run a diffent ecu.

If you feel your opti is going out. Or just want some insurance. Replace the opti and get the delteq and LTCC. It is worth evrey single penny.

i would, and will when i get the money, go for the delteq. the LTCC has some nice features but is way too expensive since you have to buy 8 LS-1 coils that are not inclued to make that kit work. here are some links to both kits

I would really see what they replaced it opti with

I am pretty well versed on them. I have over a dozen laying around. I just had the cap and rotor off the one on my car tonight. less then 5k miles and the aluminum posts are burned. I cleaned them and put it back together. SHould get me though the season MSD is hell on them! but I wont hit the button with out it!

Expect to dish out around $600 for the whole kit.

the LTCC and Delteq are two seperate alternative igntions options. The LTCC utilies 8 coil packs, while the Delteq unit uses a coil arrangment like found on a northstar V8. 4 coils-- 2 plug wires per coil.

Oh. Ok. I misread that one guy's post where he said get one and the other.

So which would work better? 1 coil per 2 cylinders or one for each?

The Delteq does not offer a choice. there are 2 people making completely different kits. One uses the Northstar ignition module and the 4 coils, 1 for 2 cylinders. The other is by LTCC and uses 8 LS1 coils but the coils are not included so the kit is way too expensive. Check the links in my 1st post.
