Default 4.10s in, a few thoughts.

I know alot of you were interested, so here's my findings. Got the 4.10s in yesterday, already have 260 miles on them.

First off the rpms are pretty fricken high on the freeway. My car is an auto so in my overdrive gear im turning about 2450 at what I *think* is 65. Havn't had the pcm flashed yet.

It seems like most of the dead spots in the powerband are gone, or they get revved out of really quickly. The car gets better city mpg, and slightly worse (2 mpg less) highway mileage. It accelerates quicker at all RPMs, everywhere in the powerband.

And the best part was, including parts and labor, I got my gears installed for $325 out the door

Thanks for the info, I was debating 3.73 or 4.10, I think I'm gonna go with 4.10's..

So all in all. . .do you suggest this to other auto drivers?

Post some new times when you get a chance.

Ive got 4.10's in mine. Around town, theyre a blast. On the hwy, they suck. I personally didnt gain very much at the track since I was already getting a great 60' with the 3.23's. At 112mph, Im going through the traps right at the top of the powerband in 3rd though.

I had a 4.10 in mine and switched to a 3.70. With a TH400 and no OD, highway driving is a little better now. Old ladies aren't passing me ...too often.
Once I get my tall drag radials on it, I'll be a little better yet.
Oh, on the track, the car was bouncing off the rv limiter with the 4.10 at 115mph. Now, it's trapping 124 without hitting the limiter on NOS.

I have 4.10s and i trap really low 90s so its just me, cuz other LT1s with 4.10s in other places trap just fine, the only problem is with an A4 you dont want to be shifting into 4th going downt the 1/4 mile.

I have 4.10's but I also have a 6 speed car...I love them and since I do have a 6 speed they are not any trouble on the highway...and I absolutely love them down low

You should be able to get up close to around 150 in 4th, only about 105 in third.

I’ve an M6 with the 4:10s too. I love them as well. I don't have to downshift to pass people on the highway now. I am planning to go with 4:56 when I get a beefier rear. I am still running with pretty much a stock pumpkin now. Just put studs on the main caps and have the TA stud curdle. Been running strong for years but I am not putting loads of power to them either.

I definetly suggest this to A4 owners who are debating between 3.73s and 4.10s. I've ridden in an LT1 with 3.73s and the RPMs aren't really all that more, but it seems like there was a decent SOTP increase between the two. I used to recommend 3.73s to people with A4s, but after owning 4.10s in my personal vehicle, I will recommend them to everyone.

The car is plenty streetable and it gave it such a kick in the *** power wise I want to slap myself for not making this the very first thing I did. I gave two of my friends a ride and they were flat out floored at the difference the gears made. Like someone else said, I can pass people extremely easily in 4th gear now. It seems like 4th pulls as strong as 3rd used to on the highway.

Where in the bay area are you birdman?
