Default Best 58mm TB

Who makes the best 58mm Throttle Body for our cars. Holley? BBK? Somebody else? Let me know.

Are you planning on going with a stroker motor with some great heads and a big cam in the future? If not that 58 mm TB is WAY to big for just a bolton car. Even a 52 mm is too much IMHO.

A lot of people slam the BBK but I've had zero issues with mine. I would have to say the AS&M is probably the highest quality one.

I swapped from a airfoiled stocker to a 58mm BBK/Edelbrock(got CHEAP) and while it changed throttle response it really did not make more power SOTP or with the parameters I can monitor through the pcm and this is a mildly cammed motor. I did have to modify it to make the car idle well which is normal for aftermarket TBs on LT1s other than that I have not had any issues. But again I did not see a power gain and I did open up the intake.

For a bolton car I would recommend going no further than a rebored stocker if even that, for the 383 a 58mm might be the way to go though just so you absolutely know the TB is not a restriction.

Motor is going to be a 383 stroker, AI fully CNC ported heads, camshaft somewhere around .530-.550 lift, lt headers, etc.

Cool! Are you going with stock castings or an aftermarket.

How about BBK? Just dont feel like spending 500 on a throttle body. Already going a little over the budget for the whole project.

yes, bbk is good, I know a couple of guys here running them, most are 52mm because the intake will need ported out for a 58mm.

Thanks for the input whynot. Im getting the intake ported out anyway so mine as well go for a 58. Anyone else have good/bad experience with BBK.
