Is it possibile to bore a lt1 motor (4bolt main) to 4.060 (.060) over with a 3.875 Stroke

If so would it last, and what would the displacement be

(how is displacment caculated through bore and stroke)

Thank you.

It can be done.......I do not recommend it. Makes the walls too thin thus results in failure. Would not last long.

I think it would be a 408 cu.

I found a displacement caculator its a 401-402 depending how u look at it 401.4

Do ls1 have bigger walls why is the safest displacment for lt1 396 and u can build 455 ls1's and now I hear there coming out with 500 cub ls1's

Also anybody else have an opoin on how long this would last? (Not knocking you I just want to know what some opionins are)

it may last a year or more or less, you cant tell... going 60 over is cutting way to close to the water jackets. one overheat or many hard runs will probably kill this motor... you can get just as much power out of smaller cubes. the LT1 just wasnt designed for big bore's
and going 60 over you run the risk of the shop cutting into the water jacket cuz its so close...

LS1s are whole different animals and they are using non-production blocks to get those cubes anyway or iron truck blocks or sleeves not just an overbore.
As far as using a 4-bolt block the 4 bolt blocks ARE THE SAME CASTING as the 2-bolt so it doesn't mean a thing.

We just made almost 450RWHP(448) out of a LT1 bored .060 over It has a baby cam in it and every thing

Gotta love Lloyds heads

The 500CI LSx base is a LS2 with dry sleeves and a 1 inch deck plate.

We will be selling them as soon as they come out

Nice

Now would you honestly recommend doing that from a power standpoint or was it just to achieve a displacement goal like oh say a 409 as some of the Impala guys like to do for nostalgic reasons?
