do u mean the 97 and 98???? cause 96 and 97 are pretty similar still the lt1 motor .... but if ur lookin for either id suggest the ls1 IMO... both motors are great but the ls1 is quicker stock and seems to be more of wat people shoot for... but either ones are still nice cars...and if u search a little u can find all the diffrences...

yeah i know that 98 is the big year ls1 all aluminum *drools* but im looking at both a 96 and 97 trans am and was just wondering if theres any difference btwn the two. cuz i know the camaros gauges and some interior parts changed in 97 but i have no clue if this applied to the bird as well... just lil things like that that are hard to search for.

oh and i love the power and redesigns of both fbodies but they are just too much for me right now. im really into the sleeker less ... bulky look of the 96-97 firebird

Wouldn't this post be better off in the LT1 section here? Not trying to be a dick, I'm just saying it's a more appropriate section that would probably get more responses.

I don't believe that there were any changes to the firebirds from 96-97 (other than the basic tweaks) like there were in the Camaros, such as the interior, gauges, etc.

Well in 97 the firebird had a digital odometer, previous years had the non-digital

The entire interior changed from 96-97 along with the amber in the tail lights.

If they are the same price, go with the 97 bird. It has the entire interior updated. Which included console(two cup holder, side swinging lid trust you want that i had a friend rip my 96 console lid open and broke the dam hinges, cause swings backward.) small tweek to the gauge cluster look, and maybe the monsoon stereo, but not sure.
I would get in and decide which one you like. Horsepower should be the same unless ones a ws6 then it will have a few more ponies but other than they look the same on the exterior.

no, the interior on the camaro's changed from 96 to 97, but not the firebirds, they remained virtually the same from 93-02, other than the digital dash, monsoon sound, full power seats for the LS-1 cars, and some other minor tweaks. 96-97 was pretty much the same for the firebirds.

The diffences are The digi dash The center consoles the 97 has a slightly small whinshield wiper profile, and thats literally everything, they are basically Identical, if u find a deal on 96, get it switch the guages out.
