Default LT1 Cubes?

I was curious as to how many cubes you can go with a stock LT1. I know you can do a 383 but is that the biggest? Thanks for any info

396 is common...you can go bigger but as with everything else it costs more.

Lingenfelter once built a 454ci Small Block. Since the LT1's rotating assembly is the same, I assume with enough cash to throw at it you could make an LT1 that big.

Lingenfelter built a twin turbo 427 LT1. That's the biggest I know of.

How big can you bore the stock sleves? how big of a stroke can you go without having to modify the block?

The largest cube LT1 that I know of that's doable is like 409-411 cubic inches. Of course then there's Jeff Green who converts donovan 400sbc aluminum blocks to LT1s and I think you can go up to the 450 cube range with those.

The thing is its pointless to go super huge most people cant even optimize a 383 in their street cars much less a 396, more to building a well working car then just throwing the biggest bottom end you can find.

The car will ba able to handle it. Its a 68 camaro that's getting minitubbed and a 4 link. I wanted to know if you could do a 406 or something bigger with the stock block.

LT1 = IRON block...no sleeves...its all one piece.

You can bore .060 over safely, which will take a stock stroke LT1 from 350 to 358.
