Now THAT is cool. Where did you find it? How much does it cost? I can't find it on Wilson's website.

I believe there is another guy on here with one of those. Built from the Ramjet crate engine intake, right?

It's funny that you posted this. I was looking at maybe using the Ram Jet intake as a platform for a Super Stock motor that I am doing. Do you have any performance information? Will it clear a stock SS or WS6 hood?

Thanks,

Daren

I guess i need to step up my bolt on efforts, I am a second and a half too slow.

is there any online references to see the specs/rules/weights? I would love to but a 10 second pass with a bolt on LT1, HA!!!! We already got people scratching thier heads with our 11.8 (officially) but our 7.4s have them really wondering!!

Shon,

You aren't too far from me. We will be testing in Mooresville in a couple of weeks. Why don't you come up?

Daren, doubting it will fit under the stock hood. That thing is twice the height of a stocker.

Your rules you just need a intake that is cast AND has the TB mounted in the same place?

Bret,

The Ram Jet is 3 3/4" taller than the LT1 manifold. I sold my Camaro last week, so I don't have a car to measure. Super Stock allows any manifold as long as the throttle body is pointed in the right direction. If the Ram Jet would work it would be a lot less expensive to modify than to buy a sheet metal intake.

Can you throw a elbow on a cast single plane and still qualify since the elbow has the TB pointed in the right direction?

Bret,

That's a tough call. The elbow points the throttle body in the right direction, but will it make HP? All of this stuff takes a bunch of money to build and dyno.

Too bad you don't have the Camaro anymore, we could try it out... you do have motors going on the pump though right?

Bret,

I have two Firebirds in the shop. If I don't get any feedback I will build one of these intakes just to compare. I'm not sure what the extra volume is worth?

I'm also not sure on the runner length on the Ram Jet. I've never seen the inside of one. At $480.00 I hate to buy one just to look.

Darren, I guess your familiar with one of the Emmons boys' LT1 Super Stocker? It has a Hogan (?) fabricated intake. I kinda of expected that car to be a little quicker. Nice looking car, however. Not sure how it fares in a heads-up match. Have you watched it much?

Ed,

I know the car, but have never seen it run. It usually is over a second under the J/SA index (11.30). That's not too shabby. In fact that makes it one of the faster J cars out there.
I will be helping the guy that purchased my Camaro to run in J/SA at a couple of races. The only thing that I will change is the rockers. I will be happy if we can get it to run 10.5's. I might try something with the intake, but I'm not sure how much money I want to spend. I also doubt that the intake will help much without building a true Super Stock motor for it ($$$$).

Are we talking about the black & white '96/'97 LT1 F body Super Stocker? I thought it ran higher than SS/JA. Better dig my rule book up, and find the weight break. It may be heavier than I was thinking. It was going 10.30s to 10.40s at the times I watched it run.
