I think kizzle just shown a damn good reason as to why you might not wanna jump on the Long tube band wagon.

Thats a pretty low setup. Mine are a good inch or more higher than that. But even with it that low, if you have the right suspension setup it wont scrape. You'd be surprised at how little the chassis actually moves up and down. When I put my sportlines in I thought there was no way it would work from just lookin at how close the headers were to the ground. But drove it around and it was fine.

I have AS&M mids and have absolutely NO regrets with them. With just a computer tune and the mids, I dropped over half a second on my car and pull on my cousin's pullied '00 Lightning. The time in my sig is with a terrible launch (since some guy kept spilling oil on the track) and at about 1500 feet elevation.

I am also lowered so that is what made me choose the mids over LTs and emissions testing. It is a bit easier to pass emissions with mids and a cat than LTs and a cat IMHO. Once I do a built and blown motor within a year, I plan on keeping my AS&Ms and never turning back. Ground clearance is also awesome with these even with my Pro-Kit!

I second the AS&M midlength headers. I have had 3 full exhaust systems on my car. These are by far the best headers I've had. They make more power on my car than the Hooker longtubes did with true duels. I run the AS&M's with a Random Tech y-pipe and the Borla catback. I picked up 35rwhp and 40rwtq with this set up, after doing the LT4 Hotcam and heads. No clearance issues, and plugs are easy to change!

i got edelbrock shorties 1-5/8 and i think they are definitely holding me back. with all my mods i only dynoed 309 after the tune. i think im going with some Arizona speed mids. But i think they are listed as long tubes on their website? The only reason i dont go long is because my car is lowered. Anyone know how good the ground clearance with kooks is. I hear its pretty good.

They are listed as long tubes because they are longer than other mid length headers. They are almost as long as the Hooker super comps I had, the collector just starts sooner, so that you have no ground clearance problems.

I had similar mods to you and I had lts. My car made 285rwhp and 320lbs ft tq. They did hang down pretty low, maybe a soda cans worth of space, but damn it was worth it.

I have edelbrock lt's and the clearance is great..the y pipe hangs lower...3" is too much..might get a custom 2 1/2 or 2 3/4" made..
