How hard to get 400rwhp from LT4?
I am curious how hard it would be to get 400rwhp from a stock block with Lt4 head and Hot cam? Is it even possible? I'm not talikng about on the bottle either, i would like to throw that on top of the 400.
Here's my mods
Lt4 head
hotcam
Lt4 intake
power pulley
cat back
52mm TB
other mods are not motor related
3.73 gears
built 4l603
transmission cooler
Can i get to 400rwhp like this? Can a new cam get me there? This car IS a daily driver, so please keep that in mind.
Thanks guys!

I hear the Lt1 to Le1+2 packages give you around 380-440 WHP and i think if you drive it normally, gas mileage shouldnt sacrificed. www.eportworks.com

LTX motor + 400 or more rwhp + Daily Driver + auto = Good Luck
You can find VERY streetable and daily driver compatable setups, the main thing is this is a auto. with a 6 speed you can get a higher whp number compared to a auto. Also for gas milage 6 speeds are great for that.
I am planning on a Bret Bauer cam on my 383 with auto and moser and if I get close to 400 rwhp I will be happy but I dont expect to drive it for my daily grind. You just need to figure out how far you travel and does it have to be reliable.

i see a ton of DD fbodies that have 400 whp...just obviously to make power you need two things gas and money
so if you do end up having 400 whp you will put out a little more for gas

400 rwhp daily driver....sounds familiar...oh yeah, i think that can be done .... if you've already got the lt4 top end...were the heads and intake from gm, or have they seen AFR's shop? ditch the lt4 hotcam...you'll never see 400 N/A rwhp with that broomstick in there.
get the heads competition ported, the intake port matched, and have comp cams take you flow sheet and grind you a cam according to the specs....
with the A4 tranny, it will eat a little more HP up, and making that much power on a stock 4l60e is a time bomb...
if you're not at 400rwhp...you're scaring it to death you'll be so close...i know, i've seen it happen befor, hope this helps.

no never had it tuned. It used to have a torque converted and jet hot headers, sadly the owner didnt keep those on it. I was told it ran in the 12's with that set up though.
I want to get Lt's and ory on there in the next month, then tune it and dyno again. I HOPE to get closer to 330rwhp, but we'll see. All my parts were from Scoggin Dickey<?> and when I googled the parts #'s on the receipts I have it goes to their website and it shows GM parts.

with that top end and no headers, you're completely choking the motor....i've got a set of pacesetter longtube non coated headers with emmission for a 96-97 lt1 if you're interested....
just getting that thing tuned might get you closer to 320....headers, maybe around 330-340....ditch the lt4 broomstick for a real cam, maybe knocking on 350....send the heads and intake to AFR, a few more supporting mods, and you shouldn't have any problem seeing REALLY close to 400 with a good tune.

I agree with streetrod93 you can turn 400 rwhp with the lt4 top end. streetrods93's set up was on point, I just want to add a couple of things. One if you have the heads worked then you should have the intake port matched as stated above with the addition of boring the intake to 58mm and getting a 58mm throttle body. Also to assist in the install of LT headers while you have the heads out lay the headers in, makes a big difference. Also get the lt4 knock sensor makes it a little easier on the tune, which is the most important part of the project. Keep all you paperwork on you heads to help get a faster and better tune. Oh also pick up the free mods, and a stall.
Prepare for launch.

i think that wraps it up...thanks for picking up the blank spots....
i completely agree with the bigger throttle becuase i've seen too many cars gain from it....but just a little fact i found interesting...the stock 502 fuel injected bib block crate from GM comes out with the exact same twin 48mm throttle....when i found that out i was shocked

Look at http://web.camaross.com/forums/showthread.php?t=420607 this is probably a fairly aggressive cam but is LT1 heads. Seeing as it is not fully tuned and is through an auto 400 should happen.

847 with a 1.5 rr is 234/242 .539-.558
306 with a 1.5 rr is 230/244 .510-.540
edit: also I just saw you have 1.6's thats 575-595 with those rr's on the 847..
not sure what springs you have..not sure what the lt4 springs are good 2. You will need springs good to atleast .600 And hardend pushrods

If those roller rockers are the GMPP ones they will not be up to the task. GM speced a shorter slot than Crane use in their Golds and as such the GMPP ones are only good to about .550 lift WITH the 1.6, both of those cams are way over that with that ratio rocker, even the 306s "small" intake lift would be getting very close.
