Default What do you guys think of LT1 Edit

So im getting a 383 rebuild next month, and am going to need some tuning software to go with it. Im looking at LT1 edit right now because ive heard its the most user friendly (never used tuning software before so user friendly is a BIG priority) and the guy doing the engine work said he has worked with LS1 Edit and it was a very good program. Just thought id get some of your ideas on it.
THANKS

tunercat is better...just as good performance wise but only 1/3 the price of lt1edit.

LT1 edit does have a more user friendly inter face then TC. it is easier to navigate also.

TC IS cheaper and has more parameters to adjust

For OBD1 I believe its around $120-125 ($99 for the program and $25-30 for the definition file). The you need to buy a cable.

Agreed completely. I found TCs customer service to be better.

How much more user friendly is LT1 Edit than Tunercats. Im willing to pay an extra $100-$150 if it is going to mean it will be a lot easier for me to use. Remember this is my first time being around ANY tuning software and I would like it to be somewhat easy to learn. My mechanic who is going to be putting together the engine will do most of the tuning when he puts the car together, but i dont want to have to go back to him every time i need something. Im going to be getting some help from a guy with a 9 second turboed bug, but he doesnt know the most about this **** either.
THANKS GUYS

LT1 edit is vinlocked, so you can tune only one car. Tunercat is not and will be able to tune as many cars as you want.

I only need to tune my car. Both of my other buddies have 93s so I couldnt tune theirs anyway. What I really wanted to know was which one is the easiest for a noob like me to use. Sorry for all the questions guys.

just cowboy up and buy the better program (tunercats) and find someoneon the net to shoot you a base tune (so the motor will run) and fine tuning from there.

This is what i plan on doing and im in the same situation as you.

actually with tuner cat you can, you just have to buy another file definition, chips and a burner.

Read what everyone posted dude. They will both do the same thing tuning wise. Tunercat is half the price and gives you the ability to tune other cars. Ya, you dont have any friends that have cars you want t tune right now, but you may and if they something simple like a speedo correction for new gearsyou can do it. With LT1edit, its done once you program your ECU. This is a no brainer...

Tunercat's interface is pretty straightforward. I had never done any tuning before and I learned just about everything in like 2 weeks. Plus as stated the customer service is far superior, the carputing guys have been known to act like ********.

For obd1, tunercat is a far better value. The gap is closer with obd2 since tunercat is still kind of new there and the cost of both is a lot more similar.
