Default LS1 injectors on an LT1??

My neighbor has some stock LS1 injectors he took off of his 2000 SS and I was curious to see if they would work properly on my 1994 LT!?

Sure but they are rated differently. Something like 26# @ 60 psi opposed to 24# at 43.5 psi (stock LT1). In other words, they're more like 19# at stock LT1 fuel pressure. Buy some Ford SVO's off Ebay.

from a corvette standpoint (not sure if the F-body ones are the same) i heard that the retaining clips will not go back on unless you provision the injectors to make them fit.

i also heard the thing about the ratings - but i'm going to put LS1 injectors from a corvette into my LT1 vette - anything's gotta be better than the leaky injectors i currently have - and i'm gettin' 'em for free - so, can't beat that!

i'm pasting in the responses i got on corvetteforum.

They'll go right in, I've got LSx injectors in mine. If you want to use the retaining clips, you'll have to file the grooves in for them but they're not really necessary.
Hi Guys
I have put LS1 injectors in my 94 LT1..did file out the groove to accept clips..yes they seemed shorter but work great and dont leak. Seems smoother respone but no extra power

this one is from a TUNER
Be really careful as LS1 injector flow ratings vary big time between different year models.
Some years are 28's, some are 26's, some are up to 32's. Unless you can run a part number or read the PCM that the injectors came out of you have no idea which size your actually getting.
and this is where i left off - i'm gonna put them in anyway, i don't care, like i said, they have GOT to be better than what i'm currently running

The response about not getting more power had to be from a complete IDIOT bigger injectors can make more power unless the old ones were too small or failing. The tuners rresponse was the one you needed. If you got LS1 26lbs you will run your motor lean if you don't reprogram the O2s and pcm can only compensate a fairly small amount. If you got the 32lbs you will run grossly rich with signifigant possiblility of lowerend damage if you don't reprogram.

Don't ask questions if you plan to ignore the good answers.

He said he had no more power, not that bigger injectors couldn't give you more power, which makes sense with no other mods.

And at what point did the original thread poster ignore anyone?

Have a wonderful day sunshine.

From what I read it's a good idea to use those retaining clips. It ensures uniform height on all injectors.

I had to cut the same "notch's" in the GN injectors I ran in my car a few years ago

Not very hard to do

To me that reply pretty clearly indicated he thought he could see extra power from just injectors which is a COMMON belief. Can't tell you how many people I have run into that believe that and told me to put on bigger injectors .

The original poster did not ignore anyone now that I read it again. TOGO was the one ignoring the tuners advise. I had not paid enough attention to exactly who had posted that response.

I have been under the impression that running bigger injectors for no reason won't give you any gains. I wouldn't waste my time putting in LS1 injectors.

Thank you for explaining your response, you appear to be much nicer than I originally gave you credit for.

I know I come across as an *** sometimes. I often make a strong point because people like to ignore the answers they don't like and I saw that happening here.

you are correct, people do ignore the answers they don't like - i guess i'll get the part numbers off the injectors and see if i have a match - don't want a "rich" condition to ruin something.
anyone know where to reserach injector "numbers" (and what numbers should i be looking for)

i just have a hard time passing up FREE stuff - but i guess i'll do more homework and just cough up a few buckaroos to make the problem go away correctly.
Damn these cars can get expensive!
