LT1 even worth modding?
durr. i'm voting ls1 not gonna get into a big arguement about the engine good points are made on both sides, but a big thing is they just flat out look 200x better to me. and with that said, i'm out of the lt1 section before i get bashed on.
LT1
Pros: Tons of low torque, can handle spray stock, cheap 2 buy and mod, sleeper factor.
Cons: Optispark, interior, older technology (not bad, but some prefer newer stuff)
Some prefer the look of the LT1's and some prefer the LS1's, I personally like both. But plan on selling my Z before I go to college, and getting a 98-02 SS, probably when I get out. Mainly because I love the way the LS1's look, and I want a newer car with lower mileage. But I might just pay my car off, do some basic mods, and have no car-payment during college which could make up for gas mileage lost when I'm in school. But there is also the chance my LT1 will have some problems, which will be hard to overcome on a tight budget.
Overall the LT1 is well worth modding, it all depends on what you like and what you want to spend, with the same amount of money spent the LS1 is usually faster due to design and technology, but any motor can be fast and reliable.
). The LS1 engine case can be built stronger but has the weakness of 4 head bolts per cylinder which was exposed on the 6.90 motor. The LT1 has better sealing abilitites but the block isn't as strong. It's a toss up for ultimate power. For the street enthusiast they both can be made to go just as fast. Power is made via airflow and fuel combined with spark and the LS1 does a much better job in factory form thanks to the 15* head design that flows considerably more than the LT1's 23* head. The lS1 will respond better to bolt-ons because of this increased capacity for airflow. When the playing field becomes even with equal heads, the LT1 will run just as good. Look at the LT1 in my sig. It just costs more to get those good flowing heads (i.e. 330+ cfm) for the LT1.
Yep. Agree 100%.
I'll be taking my '94 back to the track soon to get my 10.9x timeslip... NA by the way.

LT1....
I vote also, I cant belive this guy really things LT1s are that slow wow. He owns one! Geuss what your going to Test drive a LS1 and say it pulls some what harder but really isnt worth selling my car for.
Because I thought the same way a few years ago until I got my hands on a Ls1 and really beat the hell outta it. Honesty not worth selling and getting, but if you find one for a cheap price then pick it up.
LT1 is a Mean motor, I was on HondaTech and somone said how could you not beat a LT1 they are very slow. I wanted to hit my screen, LS1 peole gave LT1s this Sterotype
I have owned 3 lt1's and 1 LS1 and im telling you the LS1 can be made fast as h-e-11 so ezzz that it isnt funny.
I had a bone stock 99 run a 13.2@108 and I put a lid and catback on it and I was trapping 109 and easily running 13.0's on street tires. At the same time I was racing 03 Cobra's at the track as well as cammed LT1's and wasnt having a problem staying with them at all.
Well I just sold the LS1 to a good friend trying to cut some cost becasue Im expecting my 3rd child and he took it to the track and was busting out 12.1@119 on street tires, medium cam,Stock heads..na, 3:73's in a six speed and a couple off small bolt ons. We just watched him run a 11.8 a few days ago with less the 2k in parts that I put on the car.
I got a great deal on a 97 TA so im back in an LT1 and im thinking about selling it becasue I cant stand the HP difference.
Make no mistake the LT1 is still a nice car and worth building if you can get a good deal on one.
