Default LT1 even worth modding?

I have a stock LT1, 97 Z28 is it even worth modding? Or should I just look for a 98+ SS or WS6? Whats everyones opinion.

Hell yeah mod it. I have the funds to buy an LS1 car but I will be buying the LT1 because parts are cheaper and I would love to put a few local cocky ls1 drivers in their place.

As they say "LT1s make you confident, LS1s make you cocky."

just a matter of what you want it to run. i like the lt1s because most people expect the ls1 cars to be faster. kind of an underdog thing. lt1s are easily modded.

both cars run very good and have alot of potential.alot of people dont understand that it is all in what u do to these cars.the worlds fastest ls1 runs 7.90s and the worlds fastest lt1 runs 8.00s...so i guess if you want to go faster than a 8.00 in the 1/4 i would say ls1.

Dump the LT1 like a fat girlfriend and get the LS1. Everyone telling you to keep the LT1 are the people that have the LT1 and thier pride blinds them. With that said I'm also modding a LT1 but as soon as I get back to the states Im going straight to the LSx and NEVER looking back.

I enjoy my LT1. Car feels a lot faster than it really is because of the torque powerband. I've never been in an LS1 but I hear they feel "slower" than an LT1 stock for stock, but we all know this isn't true. I personally like the camaro LT1's better than the LS1's, and the LS1 TA's better than the LT1 TA's. I actually plan on getting an LS1 when I graduate college for the fact that I want something a little newer and they seem to be a little more "mod friendly." If you like your car then definitely keep it. H/C prices are so cheap now its not even funny. (It's actually great) Either way good luck to you in your decision.

If there are people modding vtec's, then the LT1 is worth it.

No..it didn't do that stock but we are talking about modding a car not a stock one. And yes..the lt1 will kick the **** out of my ls1.

Just sold my 2002 Z28 in favor of another LT1 car (3rd one) If nothing else the LT1's don't have piston slap, and that my friend is well worth it all by itself!!!!! LS1 was the noisiest motor i've ever had. And LT1 pulls harder down low, at least that's what i've experienced! I'd say save yourself the $$ and go for it..

well there is a BIG reason why state troopers use a LT1 engine instead of an LS1, just look into it

Are you saying your state is not funded to replace old LT trooper cars? TX troopers now have LS cars, at least around Houston from what I've seen. Certainly you don't mean they bought LS trooper cars, R&R'd LS for LT engines, pcms, wiring harnesses, etc
