I my have misunderstood...is smoke actually coming OUT of your tail pipes or just from the back of the car? You said some was coming from your shifter boot...what does it smell like...oil smells diffrent than trans fluid...you said a friend says smoke is coming from your oil breather if you don't have any actual smoke coming out of your tail pipes I would investigate the underhood smoke a little more.....MM

Alright. Let me start over. When the smoke would come out and i would notice it, it would be on the highway and i would see it in my rear view mirror so i THOUGHT it was coming out of my tailpipes. Today i had my friend look under the hood while i was IN place in the street (the car was hot, i had been driving it for half an hour) and i revved the engine to 5500 and smoke started shooting out of the oil breather. Now about 3 days ago i saw the oil was low and put some in. I think i may have put TOO MUCH though. Could this be the problem. I'm going to do a change tommorow and see if it acts up still.

But let me clarify something......it ONLY smokes at HIGH RPMS when i take off if i'm doing 65 and i throw it into 3rd i'll see smoke shooting out. other then that it does not do it.

Once on the highway i shifted down and it came through the shifter boot. Kinda smells like oil. Grr.......

Wow, I dont see a reason for smoke to come out of the breather... I was going to say if oil is shooting out of there and going somewhere to be burnt (such as headers/exhaust manifold) they you might have excessive crank case pressure...

put ur rubber hose back on that connects to the throttle body. When taking that off it messes up your vacuum for your engine.

and oil could possibly be comming out of that causing it to smoke also.

I have no idea what your talking about. Did you guys read the whole thing? It has 120,000 miles. Dunno what the last thing it had done. it just started a week ago. Oil was low and i put some extra in (a little too much and i know it can be bad, i'm going to do an oil change) when ever i take off at WOT and i shift, thats when it pours out of the back for 2 seconds and then goes away. It smells like it's burning.

example...........i was on the free way doing 70mph and i dropped it into third, went to 5500 and then shift to 4th. SOON AS I SHIFT smoke pours out and then i complete the shift and then no smoke. it only happens during one shift. Hopethis can help you guys help me.

I agree time to park it and get a real answer to your problem before you find it at the wrong time.

I think crAzy95Z28 hit it there, your engine is building excesive crankcase pressure, check those hoses that come from the PCV valves, check PCV valves, it happened to me once, my 94 had one PCV valve clogged and wasn't working. It was building too much pressure, it would leak. I could run the engine and as soon as you removed the oil filler cap, it would sound like openning a coke! just from the internal crankcase pressure it had.
