Default Overheating.....HELP ASAP!

So i'm sitting with my car...the heat is on engine is running. It's been on for 15 minutes. I happen to look at my temp gauge and it's in the RED ZONE. I immediaitly turn it off, smoke starts flying out of my hood. I open the hood. There is coolent everyhwere. It all drains out and i let it slowly stops smoking and starts to cool down. I got it towed to my house. What do you guys think it is. It was 10 at night and i didn't have any light so i couldnt' see if there was a bad hose. I'll be working on it tommorow. Any suggestions as to what it could be OTHER then the hose????

I NEED HELP ASAP!

Thanks

Your Thermostat may be stuck. Or your water pump may have took a dump. Check out the car when it's light out and post any more info you can.

you need to find out where the coolant came from. After that's fixed you need to add the correct mix of coolant, bleed the system correctly, and then run the car to find the cause of the overheating weather it was low coolant, water pump, belt slip, fan operation, stuck thermo etc.

Done a water pump lately? If you did, I hope you didn't forget the coupler that connects it to the camshaft.

the radiator cap would vent before a hose would blow unless the hose was already in really bad shape.

yeah i also had problems when it was rebuilt, i had to get fuses said it was good then radiator cap not holding pressure, hose busted and then got a new water pump free with warrenty. and it still eases over 210 at lonf idles i dont know, i want a manual fan switch, then say you can make them yourself and ive seen a SLP one on thunderracing for like 65$.

So i found a crack in the radiotor crack around the edge. This COULD be it. I need to find someone with a radiotor pressure tester. I don't want to buy one for 100 bucks and never use it again. Once i do that i can go from there. Now what do you guys think??

The cracked raditor cap explains why there was coolant all over the left side of the engine. the battery etc. But when i opened the hood and it was steaming...it was coming from under the engine so i think it was just burning off. Now what???

so here is another question. If the cap isn't holding pressure and it cracks, could that cause it to overheat???

pressure raises the boiling point. Water boils at 212, depending on your antifreeze you can raise that to some degree, then pressure take it the rest of the way. Without pressure in the system, the coolant will start to boil at an unknown temp somewhere above 212.
