Default stroker head and cam package

im researching 383 rotating assemblys and was wondering what a good head and cam package would be. my goal is 450+ at the wheels na. is anyone out there running a setup with those numbers who could clue me in? could i port and polish my stock heads enough to save a little cash? or would a set up like lloyd elliots le3 package get me to my goal? any help would be appriciated.

my car is a 96 ws6 6-speed, and headers

thanks in advance,
dave

Advanced Induction and LLoyd Elliot will be two answers you will get a lot of and they should be able to help with stock heads.

Advanced Induction is the **** when it comes to porting heads. They do the best work. Give Ron a call and he will talk you through what you need to achieve your goals. My heads and intake are with them right now.

its going to have to be a damn near perfect setup to get 450 at the wheels. I talked to both AI and LE and they both told me it would take a lot of work. THe right fuel setup, perfect valve lash and a good tuner. This is definitely not something you want to do yourself if you want to get close to 450

If your going to rebuild it and set it up as an NA motor, i dont see any reason why not to go with a 383. Just a different crankshaft. Its not going to cost you a whole lot more and will give you a good gain over a NA 355.
