here's the write up most ppl think is the best and it's the one i used.

I followed that link as well. Great write-up. Don't let these guys get you discouraged. It really isn't hard to do at all. I see you're in IL. If you need a hand let me know.

i just did the conversion 2.5 months ago and i am loving the 6 speed my first car was a 5 speed datsun 280z so im biased towards stick anyway... it wasnt to bad took me about 4 days... it was the first time i had ever messed with the tranny on the car.... no powertools ... and the car was only high enough of the ground to slide the tranny underneath, i would do it again if i had to

i swapped a t56 in my car. took the auto tranny out and ALL of the wire harnesses. then bought harnesses that came out of a six speed car including computer. car runs like a top.

this is the way i look at it, the shifter is directly connected to your walet, you want to bang gears, it will cost you, automatics are easier on parts.

dont know about that its costs a lot more to get the auto rebuilt and mine was breaking stock tranny mounts about every 8 months.... i may be wrong but i thought it was quite a bit cheaper to get a 6 speed rebuilt than a auto

if you break a stock six speed your running serious power or u need to learn how to shift! if it does break have built with aftermarket upgrades.

Like I said in mine, I would love to have a manual, that is all I drove before. This is my first auto. I was lookin for a M6, but there were none for sale at the time, and the price was good on mine. Besides, it is making a few people cry around here, they might get me off the line, but I am flyin past them in about 25 ft....

agreed. The T56 is pretty strong from what I've seen. They are a bit harsher on the rears than an A4 though, so maybe thats what he meant

I love 6 speeds, I know when I race them that if they do not have a ton more HP it should be an easy win!

id say if you want to swap, just buy a wrecked fbody with a 6spd...but if its at all possible to push the t/a and talon off on someone and just buy an m6, do that.
