Default What gears to get?

I'm pretty sure that my next mod is going to be gears. But I don't know whether to get 3.73s or 4.10s. My car is a Daily Driver and really doesn't need to lose any mpg. Would those gears affect my power from a roll? And what would be a good company to get the gears from?!?

im thinking of doing the same thing. i know with my car (and the newer m6's) they have 3.42 gears in the rear. stepping up to a 3.73 should be slightly noticable, but not anything rediculous like dropping chunks of time off ur ET. go with 4.11's. you'll probobly drop about .25 sec off ET if driven correctly.

oh yeah, LT1 + 4.11's = torque monster

I put in 3.73's and have been really happy. Didn't lose any top end really and it took away all that lag. I always jump out on bolt on LS1's too that don't have gears. My friends with LS1's with lid, longtubes/y pipe and exhaust have a hard time pulling away from my bolt on LT1

Get 4.10s, and never look back. Your mileage will not suffer in the city (maybe rise slightly) and the highway mileage might go down by 1.5 or so.

Will 4.10s affect roll-on power? And BTW, I've seen it different, but is it 4.10s or 4.11s? Or are they actually different?

get 4.10s, its only going to be around 200 rpm difference at 80 mph. so your gas mileage wont really be efected much

i've got 4.30s in mine

Yes they're a slightly different ratio, nothing you will notice. The way you get the different ratio is by going with different companys. My Motives were 4.10s, IIRC Richmond Gear carries the 4.11s.

Yes they will affect your car's pull throughout the powerband at any speed.

For the better, I'm guessing? I want the power from a dig, but I don't wanna lose any roll power.

4.10's are weaker than 3.73's. I beat the hell out of my 3.73's and no problems yet Plus I love the way they feel on the highway. I don't run out of gear too fast.

Get 4.10s if you plan to stay all motor.

I have 4.10s in my car and I absolutely love them...until I got to the track with nitrous. Going to 5th in the 1/4 sucks! They are PERFECT for all motor though...around town and at the track.

So if i'm looking at this from the "not wanting to break **** aspect" 3.73's are a better choice than 4.10's?

The actual strengths of the ring and pinion are minor differences. The 3.73s are slightly stronger, but I promise they're no more resistant to breaking stuff. TRACTION is what breaks these rears, not gear ratios.

And yes, it changes the way your car pulls for the better.

Is that all that will be wrong? The speedo? I won't need to get anything done that might affect the car's performance.
