Default how fast are the srt4's?

I have a friend who has a friend who has an srt-4, he says his dad has a c5 z06 and his srt-4 stays with the vette til like 130 or so. this doesnt seem plausible to me what bout you guys? im told it only has like intake and exhaust or something. i know the sti's are pretty fast, i raced a modded one with my slipping trans and he pulled pretty hard from like 20-60 or so.

Stock they'll run about like an LT1. Being turbo'd and really light all it would take is some key mods and I'm sure it could hang w/ a older Z06 decently enough.

Still just a Neon though...

You sure it's not a Stage 2 or 3 or a 1 with a couple key mods on top of it? My understanding is a Stage 1 is very lightly modded and only good for like like mid or high 13s...

no ******* way!!!! hes full of ****. the srt will do 0-60 in 5.9 sec. the c-5 is a little less than a sec. faster than that. by the time they got up to 130 the vette would be long gone!!!!!

Your friends friend is a bullshitter, no way would he hang remotley close to a Z06, unless he is seriously modded or a that guy in the Z can't drive for ****.

If they go from a dig and the Super Neon (assuming it is really close to stock) beats him until any MPH, the Z06 driver needs to trade in his Vette for a base neon.

That doesn't make any sense at all. An 03 Zo6 traps 115 MPH stock. An Srt-4 traps around 99-102. With his mods (intake, exhaust) I saw he wouldn't trap any more than 103 or so. (maybe) Zo6's run low 12's stock...Honestly, this is no comparison.

that is what i keep saying over and over, but my friend swears by it, i told the kid i want a race and hopefully i'll get one soon, he lives in fort worth somewhere and i was told he is coming down sometime soon. hopefully then i'll have my 3.42's in and really spank his ***. this is of course if it is stock like he says, im sure a nicely modified one would be pretty damn fast like the wrx without the extra 2 wheels taking up power.

If its a stage 3 it's easily believeable, otherwise no.

They're about as fast as a LT1 stock for stock, and "stage 1" is nothing but a computer change, and just stage 1 alone will not get you high 12's @ 11x. It will get you 13's @ 102-103.

The last SRT-4 I saw at the track last year ran a 14.3 Im pretty sure other than some exhaust mods it was pretty much stock. They are quick, remember power vs weight is what wins races.
Im sure a stage 2 or 3 would be nasty. But in the end its still a neon so who cares.

I saw an SRT4 put 298 hp to the front wheels on the dyno last weekend. I don't know what mods he had to get those numbers. I would think that car could get into the 12's pretty easily with those numbers. But if your friend is talking about going from a roll then that's a lot easier for a turbo car to hang then from a dead start. Without knowing what mods he has anything is possible, but I would tend to lean towards the prove it point of view.

There are fast SRT's out there. I ran against a white SRT4 at Angleton Raceway. He went 8.30's at 86 MPH in the 1/8. I was pulling away like a madman after the 330' mark with a trap speed of 93.

My buddy raced one and it was about even. My buddy has a 97 formula with a HOT cam, 1.6 roller rockers, Edelbrock mid length headers, K&N cold air intake, and Flowmaster exhaust. Not sure what was done to the Neon, but it sure was a humbling experience... I mean, a NEON!!!

I raced one with an exhaust on the interstate not to long ago. All I had was a lid, k&n, and LM at the time. We pulled up beside each other at about 55 and he didn't even honk, he just took off. I quickly passed him and had him 3 or 4 by 115, where i let off. Sounds like your friends friend has the, "I have a awd import, nothing can beat it," mentality! We didn't race from a dig, which probably would have made it a better race, considering 2.73's suck ***** off the line..

Like a few people already said, it doesn't take but a few mods to make em' fast, mabie thats the case... But sounds like a crock of shis to me!!!

I may be mistaken, but I thought he said stage 1. He put down in the area of 260-270 RWHP so maybe it was a stage 2. I'll ask him when I see him. None the less, very little has been done to the car and I have saw him run those times Fast cars with just a few mods.
