Thumbs up 97' camaro needs some muscle

hey guys my name is mark and i have a 97' camaro and its stock except a couple of bolt ons. This car is my daily driver so i dont need anything real drastic. I am thinking about a heads, cam, and intake kit but i dont what would be the best for what i need. The car is in really good shape and its an automatic. The car has 145,000 miles on it so when i do the kit i am going to do the whole motor. i just need to know where the cheapest places are and the right kit to suit me.

I also have some extra parts id like to trade or just sale out to buy some horsepower mods. I have a custom 12' speaker box (i paid a 150 last year) with 2 12' power storms (nice), and i also got a 1600 watt amp to go with it. Id sell them both together for $250 or do some trading for parts.

I have the stock rear wing for this car too. Its green and in perfect condition.

I have the front cornering lights too cause i boght clear ones.

I have the stock cassette player too its listed for like 300 watts (more then my after market cd player) but i have to have a cd player. lol

And i have the stock intake cause i have a moroso kit.

I also need a couple on interior parts like center console lid and power windows and door switch on drivers side.

ok i think thats about it just call me on my cell 304-419-4353 or email me at geedub6893@gmail.com

well its always a good idea to start with the basics cold air intake, headers, and exhaust. After that you can look into a stall, heads, and a cam.

If you're doing a rebuild, then I would build a 383 or 396 if I were you. In the long run, it would be cheaper since you want more power, and they are very reliable for daily drivers. Just my .02

well i already got a moroso cold air intake, 3' flowmasters, and hypertech chip to start out. How much horsepower do you think i would have after a cheap stroker kit? I also need a posi or a locker rearend. When i turn the traction control off the car only spins one wheel. What would be the best rearend for both wheels to lock up but still be able to drive it around all curves and stuff.

Email me for pics of the stuff i am trying to sale or trade.
Alos email me if you got any parts for my car.

WERD, thats odd its not a posi, id do a posi or an Eaton HD rear with a set of 3.73's for the gears.

I didn't notice you said it only spins one tire. Can you get an LT1 with an open diff? The posi probably just needs to be rebuilt. It'll be fine around corners since it's not a 100% constant lock on the rear wheels. If I were you I'd opt for the gears first with the one-tire spin issue.

I fixed the posi traction problem... the guy before me never had the additive in it. The car needs a tune up so i just ordered plug wires, cap, and button from MSD. Just a couple of minutes ago i just put a stock 5.0 5 speek car in my kill list. LOL... i need some more power with out bringing the motor out from underneath the car. Any suggestions on some good bolt ons?

Get the stall converter then. You won't be disappointed.

bolt ons... LT's, CAI, Sub Frames... you can still get a smaller stall 2800 and leave the gears alone and you will can still see a big gain. You can get a stock converter stalled to around 2800 or so, not any higher then that though. If you ever plan on heads and Cam, you might want to get what you need first rather then going back and spending more money on parts you didn't get the first time.

Mark, I would install an LS1 if I were you! It would help against that pesky 94 GT with the 347 down your street!
