Default lifters and cam match???

i know you have to replace lifters when i do cam, and ive already done roller rockers, but do your lifters have to match your cam, i didnt think so because im not doing that big of a cam, just like a small lt4 hot cam size, and does the timing chain have to match too???

You do not have to replace lifters on a hydraulic roller motor when you change the cam, and unless they're bad, they will work on anything but the highest hydraulic roller cam - for those you may need to upgrade to the hi-lift lifters. What do you mean 'does the timing chain have to match'? If you mean to the timing chain gears then yes, you should replace them as a set, with the HD set or a double roller set.

You should really do some research before doing something like a cam swap. That stuff ain't gonna work.

That package is for a first gen motor. It won't work for your motor. My advise is cancel the order and get your money back. Then save some more money and buy a proper cam(hot cam or cc305?), springs, ect. A cam swap on these cars is not cheap, expect to spend some cash in this venture

Summit has other cams for the LT1 I know their catalog has at least half a dozen 500 and 300 series Comp grinds.

Flat tappets can be MADE to work in an LT1 but are a step backwards.

As previously stated, you do not need to change the lifters unless the cam is really extreme.

I give up.

Dude, you just bought the wrong cam for your motor, it's obvious that you don't know very much about the LT1 from this and your previous posts in this section, and you keep ignoring the advice people here post trying to guide you.

Just do whatever you want, hope it works for you.

Oh ok. Didn't know you needed to change the lifters. I guess that also means that the cam you bought will work without any issues, and my stock 98k+ mile lifters which are being used with a Comp XE cam are going to disintegrate next time I start my motor.

Good luck.

Youve been told wrong man. Im using the stock lifters in a ****** 383 motor. You bought the wrong **** so stop asking how you can get it to work and just go buy the right parts. And even if you did need new lifters, which you dont, if your not willing to spend 300 dollars to get your car to run right then you should probably stop modifying it right now.

The Cam Kit from summit is a good deal, i got it and I have had no problems with it, and I am running the stock lifters with over 100,000 miles on them. As far as spending money, dude, these motors aren't cheap cause they kick ***. To kick ***, you are going to pay for it. I am in Iraq right now, and I will be coming back with about $12k, so my baby is getting some tweaks. I have spent $1,000 for a Cam and Rear-end install, $500 for the new Auburn Pro-series Posi Rear(blew the factory one apart with a stock motor), $500 for the Cam and Rocker Kit etc., you get the idea. As far as the Cam that you got, that is the wrong one, and you will not build the power that you think. Everyone has said it. And the part that you replace is the Valve Springs when you change a cam, not the lifters.

I bought new lifters before I did my cam swap "just in case". My car was at 90,000 when I did the cam. I pulled out the lifters, and if I didn't have the new set sitting in front of me I would have easily used them over again. They looked almost as good as the new ones I threw in there.

New lifters - preferred not required.

Do not go near your motor with a wrench.

Have your knowledgeable friends work on it - no need for our advice - they know it all anyway.

I think you should carve some new lifters out of wood.

This is getting funny and annoying at the same time. Why ask for advise and not follow it? Your buddies must be stang owners.
