AC Delete??
With gas prices going up, I've been thinking about getting an AC delete pulley and ripping out all of my ac components, since I dont use the AC at all. Would I see any gains in HP and MPG really?
i'd imagine all the lines, compressor?, the coolant? i just bought one off ebay, for $50, i think it's worth the added mpg if any, the cleaning of the engine bay a little, and the added 1-2 HP lol. GAS is killing me!!

I just deleted my A/C. I already had all the accessories and stuff off but it wouldnt be too hard to do with everything together.
heres some pics:

overall I lost about 40-50 lbs off the front of the car. its hard to tell if theres a difference because I swapped headers at the same time and they unleashed a ton of power.

I took all my AC stuff out, and installed an underdrive pulley kit. The only thing I couldn't get out was the piece in the dash, and I didn't feel like removing it and messing up the heating system. I just cut out where the hoses went in to the dash, and sealed in an aluminum plate so it is a closed system still. All that stuff together weighed about 40 lbs. It made more room in the engine bay, and easier to work in some areas.

Pulling the a/c wont help gas mileage, with the a/c off the clutch should disengage that pulley and let it spin freely. My car has the delete pulley since my a/c crapped, I pulled every thing firewall forward and the heat still works fine. Was able to reuse the stock belt size as my car still has stock pulleys.
I need to do some reasearch on this, for one thing i havent got any idea were all the weight comes from after removal IE all the old parts. And if it does save weight of the front that just gets me a little closer to pulling my front.

Are there any write-ups on A/C Delete?

-Disconnect batterey and take the Serpentine belt off.
-Bleed System, little cap on one of the lines. (most get it professionally done cause of the freon, mine leaked out).
-Take the black plastic cover over the radiator and the Condensor off.
-Disconnect all the connections in the lines. The lines go down to the back of the pump also. Don't get them confused with the heating system lines.
-Remove the Condensor. It is in front of the Radiator and slides right out.
-Take out the Freon Resivoir, it sits in that little bracket. I cut the bracket out also, dremels come in handy.
-Unbolt the AC Pump, 3 bolts in front, and one in the back. It is tricky to get out.
-Put the 1LE AC Delete pulley where the pump was, and bolt it in.
-Plug off the 2 lines coming from the dash. I Sealed the whole thing off. A pic is above in another post.
-Put the plastic Radiator cover on, put the belt back on, and connect the battery.
That should be it.
