do it this way, take the factory elbow pull the resonator tube off (donkey dick) put a pert plus lid in its stead and paint it black, nobody will ever know the difference.

I doubt you will gain anything from changing the elbow.

You can gain a few things from buying a new elbow. First off DO NOT buy the replacement 1LE, it still ugly and rubber/plastic.

-Ceramic/polished aluminum would be smoother and would keep cooler.
*Rubber/plastic would suck up more heat.

-Ceramic/polished aluminum would be cleaner and nicer looking.
*Stock is ugly.

-Ceramic/polished aluminum would not have the donkey dong at all.
*Stock/1LE still has the extention but its blocked off (I think)

-Ceramic/polished aluminum would have a "intake roar"
*Stock/1LE wouldnt have much of a difference in noise.

-Ceramic/polished aluminum Would gain some HP nothing in the seat of your pants though but it all adds up.
*Stock/1LE would soak up more heat and be more turbulent.

That is how I see it, I plan on buying a ceramic coated black elbow myselfm I think its worth it.

I am lookin into an aluminum one from summit. My intake is real loud now, and I have the stock one with the Dong blocked off. They sell it in a kit with the clamps and the rubber pieces to make it fit snug, and all the pieces where all the conections go in.

This would bolt up fine to all aftermarket cai's right? I would imagine so, but I just want to make sure.

Heres my elbow installed. It actually helps direct the full airflow into the TB instead of filling the dong on the OEM one with air causing it to slow down air flow.

It goes in between the Throttle Body, and the Mass Air Flow Sensor. Nothing to do with any CAI.

the ceramic really wont add to the roar versus a 1le..look at the inside of the 1le..it serves the same purpose at directing the airflow..yeah it may get a lil more warm and not look as great but it is functional....but if your gonna spend the money get one that looks good
