Default Should I remove my cat?

I'm thinking of removing my catalytic convertor on my 94 formula. Since its OBD1 it won't matter, but the car is stock right now. Is there any gain to be had by doing this, or should I just leave it?

It will be a tad louder plus a very slight gain.
I am going to be putting mine back on cause the exhaust is turning my white paint brown around the tip which is hard to clean off.

My cat is gutted (with loudmouth exhaust), but recently I don't like it too much. Car is runnig rich, and it is kind of hard to talk to people without stopping the conversation every time you accelerate. Might look into hi flow cats, thats what im going to try next. But its really whatever you want, im doing hiflows cuz my mileage was shot to hell and gone after i gutted the cat (o2's prolly got messed up and spark plugs). Good luck. And yes, it makes it louder .

Is there really any gain on a NA engine? Anybody have dyno sheets to prove it?

I will have no cats once I setup my new Exhaust. Pace Setter LT Headers with 3" collectors, reduced into 2.5", into a True Dual setup with H-Pipe, and Dynomax Bullets dumped infront of the rear axle. It should have enough backpressure, and sound real nice.

No dyno, but my first round of mods were my CAI, gutted cat, and exhaust cutout, and my track times went from 14.1 @ 98 to about 13.7 @ 101.5 uncapped cutout and about 13.9 @ 100ish with it capped...

alright i guess since i have a 95 lt1 trans am also i have a question 2 about removing the cat and replacing with a straight piece of pipe. Will it actually loose power? I asked the guy at the muffler shop and he said he has taken off cats on cars like mine and said they lost power. But my cat is starting rattle and sounds like **** so i dunno if i straight pipe it or put a high flow on if it actually does loose power

You dont loose power. YOu will gain some (barely any unless your cat is clogged) but it's higher in your powerband

The common theory is that if you remove the cats on an NA car you lose some torque down low and gain hp up top. Whether this is true or not, I don't know. In FI engines, the less backpressure the better, not always so in NA.
