Default roadmaster and f-body lt1 engine differences?

Like the title says, what are the differences between the roadmaster and f-body lt1 engine? Because I have a roadmaster lt1 that I am rebuilding and I will be dropping into a RX7. I need to make sure all lt1 parts are innerchangerable.

thanks

Look up the LT1 FAQ. there is alot of good info in there for you. There are some differances but most parts will bolt up.

Might help you to know year for year the Roady, Caprice, Impala, Fleetwood are all the same as eachother and the bottomends are the same as the f-body.

I think you should stick with those heads. just have them ported! They can take ALOT more heat then the aluminum!

I wanted to swap to aluminum heads because of the weight. What about aftermarket heads?

the weight ain't THAT much difference. You could take your heads and send them off to loyd elliot to get ported with a matching cam. You would make alot of power with those!

stock for stock neither head is worth swapping to from the other, the irons flow a little more than most of the aluminums, only the best aluminums matching them as cast. For porting though the early lesser flowing aluminums offer the most potential.

There is not a single aftermarket head I would recommend for a stock shortblock porting one of the LT1 castings can work great, for max effort you just want the early aluminums.

The wiring will work.

it is a little under 50lbs more like 47lbs., not saying you were wrong more just verifying you were in the ballpark.
