car wont stay running after valve adjustment

well i went through the valves today and i am pretty sure that i got rid of the miss... but i cant tell lol. the tires are so bald on the car that i couldnt tell if it was missing by the tach or not. didnt sound or feel like it and it was definatly pulling nice, even with the 2.73's lol. but now i have got some valve train noise which from what i remember is normal.
the way i found zero lash was as stated above, wait until the pushrod no longer moves up or down and then tighten. i did only do 1/4 of a turn after zero lash. i presume that will be ok?!? but as said above some of them are chattering, nothing nasty but definatly noticable. so let me know what you think guys
