Default Suspension or Performance?

After reading everything I got on my car right now from my sig what would you guys suggest I do next if it were your car? I live in Texas and know emissions aren't to strict but I don't want it to be illegal so gotta stick with probably shorties if yall suggest headers? But what are your opinions. The car also has 142K miles on it right now.

ok id go headers then id go suspension and actually you dont have to do shorties to stay legal, you can go mids, AS&M or Pacesetters, look around and see what you can find, since you want to stay legal then go mids not shorties

Yah but how are mids legal? i still would have to have both cats to pass legally wouln't I? Plus mids still move your cats a little bit do they not? And isnt moving your cats actually violate state laws?

you can kinda have legal long tubes, get them with all the emissions and then get a catted Y, technically it isnt leagal because you relocated the cats but most inspection stations won't see that, normally with OBD2 cars if you dont have a SES light on you can find a station that will pass you, well thats the way it is here in NC. I would do headers and Y then move down to LCA's and relocation brackets, SFC's, lowering springs, adjustable panhard, good tires, then a cam, o and definitely gears and a stall if that apply's

yah thats what i thought anything besides shorties that don't relocate your cats is illegal according to pretty much like federal law since it states you have to leave the cataltic converter in their stock location. What websites have some good mids with a catted y-pipe? and also does anyabody have the hook up or know of any inspection places in fort worth, tx that are really lax on their inspection?

yea, its getting really technical when they fail you for moving your cats, there are a lot of inspection stations out there that will overlook that, i mean i've found some that totally over look the fact that i dont have any at all

Im assuming you're looking for a street crusier style. Good looks and fast to boot. SO....... I'd go with about a 2200-2800 stall If automatic......Lower control arms, panhard bar, and a torque arm. You'll be able to have go to the track every now and then and get some good traction and times on street tires along with what you already have. Spare info......Ive seen bone stock LT1's with just headers, cat-back, stall and suspension go mid to high 12's on street tires.

Shorties are about as good as money spent on a steamie pile of dog ****. So by all means buy them.

If your getting new headers make sure you get LTs.

well i want to get lts but i don't want to hassle with all that inspection bullshit of having to find somebody to pass you with lts i want it to at least be a little more easy to pass inspection.....What about a set up with a good set of mids and a catted y-pipe?

You can get LT's, and run a Cat in there somwhere, and still be alright. That's what I plan to do if I have to.

Get 2 Hi-flows, and put them right after the collectors. Then put the O2 Sensor right behind that.

It's on you. I dont think there is no wrong or right answer. The reason I say make more power first is the car will be driven on the street 97% of the time. Suspension is not going to help you pass that slow **** driving 17 Km under the speed limit. Suspension ALWAYS helps but wont do as much imho as a set of good tires on the street. Now if you go to the track alot and or it's not a DD then that changes things reason being your suspension choice will be effected alot by how you drive your car, if it's a DD, how high is your tolerance etc. If the car is a DD do the things that make it fun first. Even if you get a ton of suspension alot of it is not going to do a ton on the street because getting it to the ground on anything other than a track is a challenge. Suspension would be my first choice, because once you do a suspension, you are set. Then do performance by pulling the engine and go all out. If you do performance first, your suspension might not be up for the task of controlling all the new power. Just my $.02.

ive went the power route now im doin suspension to get better traction, the LT's are totally worth it, ive got the pacesetters with the emissions fittings and had an exhaust shop fab up a y-pipe with cats in it and no problems what so ever, i say go for it

How much and how good of work did that Shop do with the Y-pipe? Some won't touch these cars.
