Default short block vs. long block

I've been looking around at different LT1 block cause I plan on building a very "healthy" motor in the near future and I was wondering. What are the differences between a short block and a long block? Is it simple that the long block is actually longer then the short block?

the short block refers to everything below the heads....just a block and rotating assembly
long block refers to an entire motor....or at least up to the heads...

if you're looking to build a "healthy" motor, i'd find a good short block somewhere and buy a set of good heads (AFR, TFS, or call someone like lloyd elliot and have him port and polish a stock set)

I hope I am saying this right.
A short block is the block only with crank, pistons bearing and caps assembled only.

A long block is all of the above plus cam, heads and valvetrain plus timing set.
