Default arcing problem

ok, I've been having this ongoing arcing issue for several months now. The opti was new from ac delco less than 6 months ago along with new delco wires, and new delco plugs. The car ran GREAT after that, than one day it started arcing and kind of developed a miss. Well we changed the plug out that was arcing and than another one was arcing. So we swapped all the plugs out for NGK's and I'm still having the problem. You can see arcing off of the coil wire and also off the plugs/spark plug boots. the car is just running like crap and now I have been getting the SES light over the last couple days, but I haven't gotten it in to get scanned yet. You think the plug wires are bad? coil? the coil is the only originial ignition part left. The problem seems to get worse with engine heat and it also worse the hotter it is outside.

arc is caused by high resistance. Good contact is essential. The high resistance can be anywhere that there is a mechanical gap in the spark path. Make sure all of your connection are clean and tight, and use dielectric compound to aid in contact.

Another reason for arc is due to high resistance in the combustion chambers, due to a lean running motor. You might want to look into that as well.

what would possibly be causing it to run lean? It is pretty much stock except for a K&N CAI and gutted cat

Any of your normal lean issue. Too much heat, too little fuel, unmetered air entering the motor, etc etc

so have any of you personally had a similar problem and fixed it by changing wires? and if so what kind of wires did you use and what would you suggest?
