Default Cam for bolt on LT1

I heard a car yesterday that was awesome.I am a little older than most and still like the late 60s muscle car lope sound. What cam would help suit me with the rough sounding idle and still not kill drivability. The car is getting a 3400 stall and as I said the rest is bolt on.

Talk to Bret Bauer, give him your goals, ambitions for the car, etc and get him to spec out a cam from Cam Motions for example, go with a custom grind. Otherwise do a search on here and you'll find a ton of options for an off the shelf cam, search can do wonders. Good luck

I don't think Bret gets his cams from Cam Motion, but they can make you one as well, and who I would reccomend if you can afford custom. Call Futral Motorsports as well and see what they can spec out for you, they use Cam Motion. If you have all the supporting mods, I'd go with a Comp Cams 503 or 305 if you want an off the shelf grind. Do some research on what LSA and duration is best for what you want. I went with a custom cam that's 226/231 in duration on a 114 LSA. Drives just like stock with almost no cam surge at all, but has tons of mid-range and top-end power.

people are trapping 110+ with the cc503, stock heads and bolt-ons. That's my next cam for sure.

ok maybe I got names mixed up...was told Bret Bauer was the "cam god", but maybe I'm thinking of someone else? Now I'm curious, someone posted in one of my posts I'll have to look back, but they this cam god was good at spec'ing out custom grinds and Cam Motions was indeed one of the shops he used unless I was told incorrectly.

Like I said, I don't think he uses cam motion. He is a very respected designer of custom LT1 cams. He does the cams for the famous lloyd elliot packages.

CC503 or any 224/230 equivlant is pretty popular, the results are great as well.
