Default lt1 getting to hot

I have a modded lt1 that is running to hot. Its not overheating but getting up to about 215. It only takes about 5 miles down the road for it to get that hot. The fans are working fine and the coolent is full. Can anyone tell me whats the best thurmo to go with and if i can get it from auto zone or a place like that. Maybe thats not the prob, let me know what you think

thanks

Do not buy from autozone....nuff said

O'reily's is the best I've dealt with here. You can get a thermo from Thunderracing.com or Summitracing.com just check em out. I'm running a 160 in mine and with a little tuning to turn the fans on earlier she runs about 180 but on hot days its closer to 200.

Get a 160 thermostat (hypetech), tune your fans to come on earlier, and a fan control switch. Also a good flush and coolant change wouldnt hurt. And make sure theres no air in the system.

have you flushed the radiator, and refilled it fresh coolant? check for obstructions in front of the a/c condensor, sometimes even between the condensor and radiator. also a 160 stat from pretty much anywhere will do you just fine. adjusting the fans to kick on earlier with the 160 stat keep the car really cool.

nothing wrong with autozone, just do not ask them for assistance. as every other part store, the employees might have general car knowledge, but most dont know the specifics required. autozone and napa are the only 2 places i go around here, each is the only place i can pick up mobil 1 oil.
