Default LT1 Block interchange

Are all the LT1 blocks that were made identical? So if Iwant to build a replacement engine for my 96 WS6 can I start with ANY LT1 block and build from there?

All Corvette blocks were 4 bolt main and the F-cars, others were 2 bolt. The 4.3 LT1 (or whatever it was) obviously isn't a good one to start with. But the 350ci blocks are all the same pretty much.

So it's pretty safe to assume that I could build another bottom end and then pull my motor and transfer the upper end and so forth without much care for the year/origination of the new block?

Thanks.

The impalas came with either the 350ci LT1 or the 265ci LT1

The Impala only came with an LT1. The L99 (265ci) was the base motor for the Caprice. The L99 was not available in station wagons.

As GIZMO was saying the L99 was base in the Caprice sedan only it was not available in anything else. You guys can add 94-96 Roadmasters and Fleetwoods to the list of donors as the only engine offered for them was the LT1.
