Default ***Tire Question!!***

Im getting some new tires and currently i have a 94 Z28 with 275 40 17's all around. (I have the 02 SS rims) For the rear, i was thinking about getting some BFG for traction. I have nittos right now, but they are pretty bald. I'm thinking about BFG G-force TA's i think they are called. Apparently, they don't make 275 40 17's anymore. How do you guys think 295 35 17's would fit? Is that too much for my car and would it make me have a slower trap speed or anything?

you can get some wide oval firestones on there in a 295 maybe even bigger than that. my brother has 275s on 17x8 wheels.

Im just going to be putting 295 35 17's on the back. That should fit fine, right?

Also, what kind of DR should I go with? Any recomendaton for everyday driving? Also, do you think a wider tide such as the 275 40 17 compared to the 295 35 17 on the rear will make a difference at the track? Not so much the 60', because i know the wider tire will be better, but my trap speed? I won't lose speed, will i?

This belongs in the wheels and tires section. They'll know the answer.

Should i just get 275/40/17's for the rear? If so, what brand should I go with?

Yes. Get the nitto dr if you're going to be driving on the street a lot. If it's mostly a track car but will see some street use, get the Mickey Thompson et street radial.

I use to work for a tire shop like 2 weeks ago and i have 275/40R17's on my firehawk... they do still make the G-force T/A's you probably just have to order them. I know it may sound weird but go to Sam's Club and see what they can do for you thats where i use to work and we usually took pretty good care of people. oh and by the way... the 295's are probably too big for those rims you are trying to fit about 10" wide tires on 9" rims with about 1" of sidewall to deal with... but you can still try... oh and dont buy dunlop sp5000's... they suck... good all season though

They make 275/40/17 G-force T/A's? If so, i need to check that out.

I currently have nitto's, (they are pretty bald now) but i don't get very good traction. I want a tire with better traction, but good for everyday driving. Should i just stick with some new nitto's, or is there something else out there comparable that i would be happy with?
