Only thing to watch with an LT1 intake on an LT4 is the sealing surface at the top of the port gets very narrow because the LT1 intake lacks material as compared to the LT4. That is why GM added material there not for port matching as others have said, true it does allow port matching an LT4 intake to LT4 heads but that is not what GM was thinking about when they cast a whole seperate intake.

Hello, I'm new to here, I own a 95 z28 with the t56 6 speed and the LT1 v8. I found a good website for the differences between the LT1 and LT4 in general, including the intakes. http://www.grandsportregistry.com/lt1vslt4.htm
According to that, the biggest difference is the material, along with the raised runners. The main reason the LT4 was better was head design, which is shown using a nice cross - section comparison.
Hope that helps someone.

Your right it was in the 400 dollar range for the stock gm, I would hope the Edelbrock would make more hp only one way to fined out,and that is to try it out. 537 dollars is high .

I bought my LT4 intake new from gm for around $220. Edelbrock is going to capitalize on the ridiculous market prices on the used LT4 intakes, which have gone as high as $1100.

If things are actually this close to being down to the wire, does anybody find it a bit suspicious that Edelbrock hasn't released any info regarding dyno tests for this thing? I mean, if they've gone as far as to authorize vendors to start taking people's money, even if they miss their target ship date they've still gotta be pretty damn close to being released. This intake debuted at SEMA 2005: two years ago. I find it very hard to believe that in that timeframe they haven't had an opportunity to get some baseline dyno #'s established.

Last I checked, (correct me if I'm wrong), both Lloyd Elliot and Advanced Induction offered full race ported stock intakes for $225. You can bolt on 30-40HP with a set of ceramic coated Pacesetter longtubes and Y-pipe for around $500.

For $537, this intake had better make an LT1 walk on water.

The reason they don't have any dyno numbers for it yet is that they don't even have a WORKING prototype yet! Last talked to them about a month ago (I somewhat have an inside connection there), the intake was still in 'Stage A' which means it has a part number, nothing else. Yes, they have a few display pieces, but those are not production pieces.

They told me that at the earliest it would be available would be March, but probably later.

What is there to be confused about? Summit has had those on their website for AT LEAST 3 months now! See the ship date at the top? They will keep changing that till they actually get them in.

Summit did the EXACT same thing with the MSD Optisparks. They were 'selling' them on the website LONG before they ever got one to actually ship out the door.
