Back in go-kart days we'd take the grease packed bearings apart, clean them and then just use white lithium or WD-40. Helped rolling resistance, but had to keep a very close eye on them.
The hubs are OEM. I have go-kart buddies who do the same trick. I'm not sure how well the bearings would hold up with 800 lbs on them? I have thought about using an aluminum hub to reduce rotating weight. Maybe on the next car. This one is a little more low buck.

I just noticed that your car is a Camaro. Here is a picture of my old Camaro. You can see that I mounted the guages on the pillar. The oil is mechanical and the temperature is electrical. The other guage is volts. The tach is on the dash. Because I run stock eliminator, I try to keep the interior as stock looking as possible.

1. I just wanted to try some.

2. Low drag.

3. They are cheaper than aftermarket disks.

4. Having all of the parts laying around didn't hurt my decision process either!

Any weight savings?
And if this come out of a 3rd gen then the axles are a tad bit shorter, does that help any?

I have considered going to the drum set up on my 4th gen....hmm...I could be that much closer to a stocker!

Shon,

Any time that you can cut rotating weight it helps. I will weigh some old disks that I have and some aluminum drums and let you know the difference.

The axle was built for a 1982-92 F-body. It's quite a bit lighter than one for a 1993-2002.

With what you have done with your stock internal LT1 you should build an IHRA Pure Stocker.

Tony.

That is the point of Stock Eliminator. Same with Super Stock, just different rule set. We hold the D/SA record with Charlie Ford's 68 Shelby Mustang Stocker. 10.38's at 128 mph

That's a great running little Mustang! Very impressive car! Didn't know we had any celebrities on here.

did you use a tighter spring for the rear drum brakes? and where did you get the alum drum from?

Because I eliminated the parking brake and self-adjusters I had to use two hardware kits. I also used the large bore wheel cylinders. The aluminum drums came on Grand Nationals and some other 1980's cars.

Take Care,
