k i have a 96 chevy impala what can i do to upgrade it for a 10 sec car

lol, an impala 10sec. It can be done but damn. Thats a heavy car. I love the way they look. Good luck on it. My suggestion would be LT4 conversion with ported LT4 heads, Longtubes, Forge and stroke the bottom end and throw a huge shot of nitrous.

Why? Those bitches must weigh 4200 lbs or so. You'd need some expensive stuff to get in the 10s, IMO. They are kind of cool, though.

ok... thats an LT1, you are LS1 tech, i think you would be better off getting some info elsewhere. there are plenty of good LT1 sites out there, and an LT1 section here also

Actually my beasts almost weighs 5000 lbs.

Check out www.impalassforum.com. There are many people over there with plenty of experience. Actually, the coolest thing I think they have going on is that someone wrote a how to, including parts list, on putting a LSX block in our B-Bodies. I have seen a LS2 and LQ4 block on the site so far.

Just because we have big cars doesn't mean that we can't go fast.

a little weight reduction(bumpers,wheels,a/c),a mild camshaft,good cyl heads,big tb,big maf,slicks,headers,3500 convertor, and about 200hp n2o will get it in there........from what i know...

10 secs isnt that fast the current record holder for an LTx powered b-car is 9.45 @ 141mph. That's moving for a big car..

if auto, big stall, gears, suspesnion, tires, etc. that ET thread will give you a good clue on good setups..

why? you just answered your own question. plus, it's more of a sleeper than a Corvette/Camero. If I pulled alongside Buffman in my riced out cvic, I'm expecting to blow this heavy buicks doors off.(well, depending on what my thoughts are about the spintechs) but then when it starts pulling away, I'm in disbileif. Ya know? Anybody can make a corvette fast, but it takes some commitment to make a 4200lbs 4 door fast.

*note I would NEVER drive a "ricer"*
