So the key is stay with 2.73 or 3.23, always preload the drivetrain and say a little extra prayer in church on Sundays

This obviously is not apparent with many people here.

I have had both cars, i do miss the feel, and sound of my LT1. The LS1 is more refined feeling.

No reason to lock it unless it gets out of hand.

the 4 bolt per cylinder issue is highly overrated, the iron block has alredy seen over 1500 hp with no sealing issues properly prepared
lifting heads is a tuning/management issue not a 4 bolt per cylinder one

But not too many people will argue with this either:
Aluminum > Iron for 900 or less HP applications (for no other reason besides saving weight in the nose).
And if you look at these big power cars you see they are usually big cubed motors. So if someone asks me which is better the LT1's iron block or the LS1's aluminum block I have to say the LS1's aluminum. Because by the time you have enough power to need an iron block you have all ready ditched the stock shortblock and bought a 383, 402, 408, 427, ect. When you do that then whatever you used to have from the factory is now a mute point.
Now lets say you drove the car for 3 years prior to a stroker. I would rather have had aluminum for those 3 years because it saves 100 lbs. of weight and that made me another .1 quicker for those first three years.

LT1 will always be a winner because it's so cheap to get and you can make decent power with them without going broke. The LS1 is falling into that same class I feel. Not hard to find a used LS1 for a decent price and make some serious power with a nice H/C/I setup. That's why I said why invent the wheel. Depending on your goal both motors and both versions of the Fbody can be had a decent prices so in the end it's about what you want.
I dont think the LT1 time is over but I dont expect anything super revolutionary to come out anytime soon.
