Default anyone have an LT1 shop manual? what is the pressure that sets off the bypass valve?

And if you do, could you do me a favor and look up something? I'm curious as to what is the pressure that sets off the bypass valve for the oil filter. I know on GM cars the bypass valve is built into the block, instead of relying on one
that is built into the actual oil filter.

I have one at home for my 94Z. I'll see tonight if I can locate the pressure rating.

I tapped and plugged my bypass hole with a bolt & loctite red. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> I want ALL the oil to go through the filter. I also ditched my factory cooler.

Are you sure you want all the oil to go through there? If a filter gets plugged up somehow, that bypass valve could save your motor. Plus, on a cold start you want the oil to bypass the filter to avoid damaging it. Cold oil (even in the hot summertime) can create a lot of stress inside an oil filter and could burst it.

Thoughts on where any values for that pressure would be?

I looked in the engine section. It did mention the bypass, but it did not give any specifics at all about it.

Maybe they don't go into any detail on it in the manual? I figured the manual would show something on it, especially in case that part ever fails.
