i could be mistaken but i have never seen a cam with a split pattern duration have a reverse split lift pattern.

I'm no cam guru (actualy doing some reading on this since thats one of my weakest points), and I usually talk to people that know better then me.... but heres mine regardless.

.644/.614 lift

Duration and lift are seperate from each other (in a way). From what I have seen in others car and my own, street cars really benifit (in more ways than just power) with cams having shorter duration with larger lift. A larger lift just means that the lobe is more aggressive (faster valve acceleration).
Also, you cant compare solid roller grinds to a hyd roller grind. A solid roller at a given spec will act like a hyd roller with 10-15 degrees less duration.
My cam (solid roller): Cam motions 247/250 .658.659 112
BTW, I really like cam motions stuff

The reason *I* like shorter duration/bigger lift cams for street cars is for 2 reasons: First being the fact that they will provide you with better driveability....duration (specifically overlap) is what will kill driveability. Secondly, the increase in lift will hang the valve open for longer (power). Also, the shorter duration keeps the powerband out of the sky, giving you the needed torque that a street car needs.
However, that does not come without trade offs. You need a pretty stout valvetrain to handle the extra lift and valvespring wear will increase causing the need for changing them more often. Lifter wear (although not to a great extent) will also rise.

I have a 93 Z28 too and I'm interested in stepping up to a solid roller. What is the website address for Cam Motions ? What type of heads are you guys running with those solid rollers ? AFR's 2.05/1.60's or LT4 heads ported out to the max or what? Fill me in cause this will be my next step.

I run AFR 210 LT4s on my car. Porting/sleeving was done by B&B Racing in California, valve sizes are 2.1/1.625"...kinda on the large size, but against my thoughts they wanted to use valves that big. I trust them, and the car is running well (125.75mph in the 1/4 on motor).
Let me know if you have any other questions.

Cam Motions does not have a website and I dont have their phone number right here....I can get it though if you want.

I'm wanting to run 11.5's or better on motor. Also ,tell me about other choices of heads that will support these solid rollers from cam motion. Your LT4 valves are "HUGE". I don't know if I need that much ,but I'm open to suggestions . as for heads, i just have some LT4s with "little" 2.00/1.60 valves. there is also ALOT less material taken out of my runners than on my buddy's MTI Stage 3 LT4 heads

Brand New, Installed, Never fired. Billet Core.
.646/.614" lift
250/256 dur @ .050
112 LS.
Decided to change cams just before I stab the engione.
cam motion speced me out:
274/282 @ .050
.704/.648 1.6rr
112lsa, 108ic
i asked about why the large intake lift cuz i always heard more exhaust. They told me thats mostly on duration....he said since the intake flows more air than the exhaust you want as much air/nitrous crammed in the chamber as possible
my friends nitrous'd 377 also was similar:
292/304 @.050 (no typo)
.737/.668
112lsa, 110ic
i dont know who did his cam. I do know in a 3000lb nova on motor it went 10.20s and on a 250 fogger it went 9.20s draggn' the bumper 330 feet
Hey Mac, sorry i didnt get back to you yet with Cam Motions info...I cant seem to find their phone number.

When/if you call them, one of the questions they will ask you is what is the car for (ie, street/strip, street only, race only, etc..). Some people think that they go a bit small on their cams (duration wise) so they tell them that it is a "race only" car when in actuality it would be a street/strip setup. IMO that is ok since alot of guys can live with a choppy idle and loss of driveability for max power. However, this is not to say that their recommended grind (for the street/strip cars) is not too "small". Their cams make very good power. In fact, I actually went to a smaller (duration) cam for my setup this year and like it better! I love the great driveability, and it makes great power.
Last year I had a GTP 250/256 solid roller in my 355ci LT1 setup. It was alright, idle was choppy but liveable, and made decent power. Now though I have a cam motions 247/250 .658/.659 112 in my 396 (more cubes even) and it is making great power...not to mention it is like driving a stock LT1 with a HOT cam (driveability wise).
IMO for street/strip cars....slightly smaller duration with big lift is the way to go. Usually that is what you get with cam motions grinds
So, you can run a 25x/25x cam in your 357, but I would be willing to bet that a 24x/24x would make about the same power (as long as it had .61x/.61x+ lift....and you would get better driveability (something that I thought I didnt care about in the past, but really did now that I have it back).
