Either one of those is too much stall for a stock cubed motor. Most people make the mistake of posting a question on the web boards and then ending up with a converter that really isn't efficient for their combo. Put your cam in and whatever else and dyno your car. Then go and pick the right converter.

it doesnt really matter so much how much HP you make, as it does where your HP curve really starts to come in, and where you make your torque

fwiw, the Vig 2800s work real well on Hotcam cars (similar car). a 3200 would probably be a good choice too, and possible a little better than the 2800 for you.

a buddy of mine with a Hotcam full weight street car that just runs mid 12s has cut 1.6 sixty foots wtih a 2800

"where you make your torque "

This is the key phrase here. Thats what allows you to pick the "right" converter. People forget HP is a function of torque. Once again, what works for one car may not necessarily work for another. Getting info and ideas is great but people quickly forget everyone's car is different. Unless you just don't have acccess to a dyno then I wouldn't buy a torque converter before I put in the mods. This is just my opinion though...

I own a Vig 3000, and I love it!!! Definitely go with a Vigilante or a Yank. I am very pleased with mine, it has the ability to flash on the launch, yet couple with drive train and tighten up before the lock-up. I had mine custom made from P.I. (its for a 5000lb truck) and they nailed the stall perfectly! If you have tire it will be the best and most effective mod yet! (besides nitrous)
