i will be getting an NA 398 stroker kit (0.040" pistons) from combinationmotorsports.com soon and i want to know how and where to clearance the stock oil pan for 3.875" stroke?
btw, is the stock oil pan with oil capacity of 5 quarts ok for this 398 kit? or it will be better to go with higher capacity oil pan? thanks.

Do you need to clearance the canton pan at all?
I would like to find this out too since I might try a 383 when I put the LT1 in my RX7. I will need to use the stock pan there so I have room for some headers <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

if you decide to use the stock pan then all you need to do is assymble the motor, place the pan on the block with out a gasket bolt it down with half the bolts and rotate the motor be hand, it will contact and make a wittness mark in the pan remove pan dimple with a small hammer in the contact areas, check for clearance a few tims and you will be set, i ran a 434 with a stock pan no problems, just use a good pump with the pickup welded and braced and it will work out fine

had no problems w/ clearance on my 383 w/ stock pan.
I think canton pans give u an option of a crank scraper; wish I knew before I built mine.
