new guage cluster
new radiator
new k member with supporting motor mounts
transmission
engine with exhaust manifold and y pipe.

you have to wire/ground some stuff but it can be done

hmmm.......

its worth it if you get a free ls1 donor car, if you cant then no go to something better or build on the LT1

examples:

Ls7, or big blocks

the money spent on an ls1 engine and misc stuff could be used to make the LT1 crazy fast

By the time the swap is done, it would have made more sense just to buy a LS1.
LS1 transplant into 93-97 isnt really worth it just build a LT1 up, if you want a badass canidate for a LS1 swap try out a third gen fbody which I am going to be doing, or if you have other tastes...........a RX7.........both weigh considerably less then 4th gen fbodys outta the box and can be made very light, I have it guessed out that my Iroc will be about 2500-2600 withouth me in it in the end, and it looks better then any RX7.

but then again you can put a LS1 into anything porsches, mustangs, monte carlos...the list goes on.

if he wants he could do a badass setup with heads cam

LE3 package for about 1/2 the money used on the LS1 swap

and you will have about 450 whp, or could do a bigger cam and get even more.

LE2 is more streetable and still having 420 whp

The LT1 is underrated, esp compared to the LS1. It's fun being the underdog

Makes no sence. Anyways, Like once said unless you have all the parts dirt cheap and plan on doing the work it's not worth it. You can get a LS1 car cheap these days so why go through the headache. It's not even about which motor is better. It's about how much money you have and how much you want to spend.

How does that make no sense?? To other people that aren't as experienced in the LS1/LT1 world, they will think the LS1 is always faster because it's newer and looks it, more power stock, etc. Of course the money game changes everything, but we're still the underdogs.

We spend to much time on this board trying to justify the LT1 instead of just making the most of it. I guess the L98 would be the better motor to have since it's the Über underdog motor to the LT1 which is the underdog to the LS1. The purpose of going with a LT1 should not be because it's the underdog to a LS1. There are way better reasons than that.

I don't think the LT1 is really underrated. They have been around so long that everyone and thier uncle knows what they are capable of stock, with bolt-ons, heads/cam, strokers, ect. I know when I line up with one at the track all I have to do is listen. If it sounds smooth and relatively quiet then I expect to pull a buslength or two. If it sounds loud but steady then I expect to win by a car or two. If it sounds loud and choppy then I expect to lose by a car length or two. And if it sounds like it's going to eat my first born after the race, then I prepare to look up when I pass the 1/8 mile to see the board and read what his 1/4 mile pass ended up being. Because that's how far back I expect to be

BUT

If I ever lined up with this car (when it's done of course).

89 Iroc Z28 -350(4 now)408ci LS1 in the works! w/custom ram air/twin cai,cowl hood estimated 2600lbs w/o driver EASY

I would think... HO,HUM another slow *** turd generation. Then when he was crossing the finish line while I was around the 330 mark, I would be like

Now that's a car that will be underrated
