Default Help a noob change his plugs

I want to change my plugs, never attempted it before. One guy i know changed his rear passenger side by going into the cabin, pulling out the rug, seeing an access opening to the motor, etc.

anyone do the same thing? how hard is it? ive got big arms so im asking a 'smaller' friend to do the rear plugs.

any suggestions on the plugs i get too?

ahh... you poor f-body guys... I coulda climbed in the engine compartment of the cadillac and had a picnic, with 2 friends. haha. Actually, my hardest plug was the one by the AC. but I have tiny hands. I know several guys told me they took the tires off, and went thru the fender with a swival. puting electrical tape around the universal joint(swival), and they are easy to have not do nuts and slap around. Gap all the plugs so you can just grab and go!

My dad and I did plugs and wires when we put the LT's on and it was complete hell and took a few hours cause we had a heck of a time feeding the wires but it wont be as bad for you since your only doing plugs.

With Manifolds on it, that sucks, I helped a friend with his. I just tore apart my complete Motor, so mine are real easy. Took a whole 45 seconds to remove.

This is the funny thing..when people see you working on your car by yourself at the shop and taking major components (Engine, Trans, drop K-Member, etc..), they assume you are the big time mechanic, and can fix anything. Some of you might see this from time to time.

I did mine from the top and it was going realy well untill the dreaded last plug. That one took about an hour to get in/out and my hands were prety much covered in blood.

I just did all 8 plugs in my LT1 Caprice and it took me 3 hours. Gotta have skinny arms if ya want to get the passenger side.

quick word of advice

get the spark plug socket *duh* but get one that is able to be tightened/loosened by a *i think* 1/2 or 3/4's wrench THIS WILL HELP BIG TIME!

i can change all my plugs in an hour if i work without a break.

NGK if you want but i recommend AC Delco Platnimun gapped to .040

why the smaller gap? While were at it, I'm personally a fan of autolites.
