Default Octane?

92, 93, or 94?

What octance do you guys run in your cars?

I have heard multiple things about which octane is the best. Just trying to figure it out for myself.

IMO the higher the better, lol.
I run 93 in mine, but if money is tight I go with the mid grade, and if I absolutely have to, like once I couldnt find anybody who had higher grade gas, I bought the cheap stuff and but super 104+ in the tank. But you dont want to put cheap stuff and end up with pistons giving up on you

Got to reading over on the VW forums and apparently (not by my own observation) stations post octane ratings at their lowest possible rating. Meaning that in most cases, testing would yield a slightly higher actual octane. I always thought it would be just the opposite. Regardless, I don't think 92-94 is gonna be a difference that will be a deal breaker. I have run 91 in mine with no problems. I will say I have tried 87 in tough situations and it will run like ****!

This will be a thread full of mis-info I beat. Anyways use what your car requires. Going with a higher octane than needed wont make the car better, just your pockets lighter.

I run 93 or 91. If you want the toys, you are going to pay for them. I pay for it anyways, my Caddy takes Premium also. Savin a little bit since the Race Car is down..

Around here we got 87,89, and 93 so I use 93. I used 89 once and the car ran like crap.

Hmm...seems like 93 it is...only reason I asked was because of the station I go to here in State College. It has 94 which is 10 cents more than 93. I just didn't know if it would make a difference. Don't want to spend more than I have too.

Please explain why you feel Torco is garbage. They are a major IHRA sponsor and have done a lot for the sport of drag racing. I have used the 110 in my Stocker with good results. What is your experience with Torco?

well compared to other brand race gases Torco isnt really anything special. Especially since it likes to leave nice little craters on the tops of your pistons. But then again Im just going by the advice of a local engine builder who happens to be in the engine builders hall of fame last time I checked

93 only. Some places have 91, but its always the same price as the 93 so theres really no point in getting the 91.

well why would I have any personal experience with it. Why would I want to put leaded gas in my car and ruin my 02 sensors. If I want a higher octane gas I'll mix toulene (sp) with it, or buy some sunoco.

So why bad mouth a perfectly good product when you obviously have no clue? Torco has invested a huge amount into drag racing. Why try to tarnish their name? In my personnal experience, once you get the tune right, Torco is "go fast" stuff.
