10's are yours!
Launching with the new 4:56 gears was a little different from the 4:11s. Had the 4:56's put in last Monday, broke in with about 300 miles normal driving and hit the track. I didn't dump her @6300rpm on the 4:56s like I was doing on the 4;11s, probably around 5800 or so seemed to keep her from spinning on 13.5 lbs of air. car still weighs 3570 with me, even on 1/8th a tank of gas she's still heavy. Think I bent the teeth on the brand new 4;56 gears, they are whining when I left off and downshift now. Talked to Pyle on the phone and he agrees the deeper gear having smaller teeth can only handle so much with hard launches. The 4:56 gears hit the traps with about 200-300rpm left to my shift point of 7k rpm though, so that solved my previous problem. Not sure where I'm headed with it now, think I'm going to just blow up the gears in their first then switch back to 4:11s....then add nitrous which would be perfect for 4:11s ...did I just say the "N" word???

YEAH!!
If you get ballzy, heat them up at 12PSI, dump it at 6500 and hang on!!
Then switch to the 4.11s and be in the 9s!

Actually you might want to think about 3.90s for juice. Maybe even 3.73s. With the 3.73s I am going through at 135+ and if I got it to hot clipping the 7,200 chip

Hey Ed just how high can I spin it before it goes lean?

nice times...im trying to go for 10 with a cam and n20...ive been 7.68-7.72 in 100 degree heat...went out last weekend and went 1.54 7.24@95.3 on 100 pills(window sw 4k-6.4k)....im waitng for it to get in the 80 so i can get some low 7.10 out of it, or the 1/4 mile to open so i can, might have to 2 stage and leave on 50-75, what times do i need to shoot for in the 1/8 to get a 10?

think a few of the big dogs on here were telling me 7.0-something in the 1/8th would be in the 10s 1/4mi. The 1.54 60' is awesome that you're doing, think I cut a 1.56...I gotta get her lower though still.

Hey Ed just how high can I spin it before it goes lean?

Mine leans about 7100, I had to enable WOT 4th gear to make it to the finish line when I sprayed it a couple of years ago. I had to go to 4.30s to make it to the finish line year before last to make it in decent air NA. I use 30" tires.
4.30s are about the same overall ratio as 26" tires & 3.73 gears.

Mine won't quite run 137 mph in 3rd. I have 4.30 gears. About 40 rwhp ago I used 4.56 gears, but I rolled the pinion teeth twice. I'll probably have to go to a 9" before it's over.

I have Faith in you and Peppe
Take care, Ed

Ellis...dude...you know what I'm kicking around now??? LOL...well thinking about ditching my 12 bolt now for a Ford 9", even trade and already setup under a Camaro now so it's just a plug n play...only thing is I'm going to do a full spool on it with a race-case and new seals, bearings, races, etc, just for good measure, also will need a 1350 pinion yoke. But I can't decide if I want to do this or not, so far I'm told the 9" is much stronger but heavier which sucks....but think I can make up the weight difference...hell maybe I'll even lose 20 lbs myself

That might be a good trade. I have not been spending the extra money "Pro" gears in mine. Looks like I should have. Moser said I should be OK going to those with my 12 bolt. I have killed three gear sets with a foot braked A4. The safe thing for me would be a 9" also. 4.56 gears don't last long at all in mine.

Nice, looks very beast like! So all you need is that cage and you'll easily break 10's right? Your lifting at the 1/8 to not get kicked off the track right? lol. Nice.

thank you sir, yep lifting and hitting the brakes...so damn doing that but it allows me to work on my 60' and the. The cage won't help me make 10's, rather good driving at this point, engine setup is good to go, gears in are now my issue, bent the teeth in my week old 4;56s

Ed what are considered "ProGears", I used Strange, aren't those like some of the best or are Progears like an all out race gear? My 4:11s held up just fine but the wrong gear, the 4;56 gears are absolutely awesome with my tire size and engine setup but just need something now that will hold up and not bend the teeth...and my understanding is the Ford 9" 4:56 gear teeth are still bigger than a 12 bolts 4;56 gear teeth therefore will not bend, at least not in trying for mid to low 10s.

The cool thing is this 9" is narrowed 2" both sides so I can use deep dished ProStars or Bogarts which will look nice out back, plus it'll be a little stronger axle shaft being a tad bit shorter.

Yes sir and you know Pyle Brothers in Baytown, TX are topnotch have always done my work and have a good reputation so I know it's not something in their workmanship, I just dumped PEPE @6200rpm my last 11.1 pass and on the way home.....especially downshifting say coming to a stoplight you hear..."brrrwwwweeeerrrhhhhhheeekkkkkkkkkeerrrrwww "....

like you said it sucks...especially with us having a Galveston cruise this Sunday.....I might drive it anyway while Pyle sets up the Ford 9" ...tired of missing the cruises.
