Default top end rebuild or overhaul?

I have about 119,xxx mi on my car right now and i have a vavlve train problem which i posted about earlier... but anyways i've been thinking bout maybe pullin the engine and have the whole thing refreshed to a 355 with a nice le2 setup.... anyone know about` how much $ that would run?, not including the price of the heads n cam.....i am either gonna do that or if it's out of my budget then jus build the whole top end and leave the bottom end stock, i had mentioned that to my mechanic tho and he said that if i do that he doesn't expect my bottom end to last more than another year.. my car hasn't been running for two weeks now and i need to make a decision!!!! can anybody help me out??

I would do the complete rebuild if you have the time and money. It is like a whole new beast (car). It would just be a waist of time to just do the top end with 119,000 miles. also plan on buying alot more stuff (sensors, plugs, etc.) good luck

do the top end. Then while your running it like that you can save for a 383 rebuild. The stock bottom end is pretty strong.
