Default What Header Bolts and Gaskets To Use?

I'm looking to get bolts and gaskets for my header installion but wanted to see what you guys thought would be the best.

I wanted to go with ARP but I can't find where to buy there header bolts on summit. If someone could give me a link that would be great.

For gaskets I figured I'd go with Fel-pro but there are two different kinds on summit.

Any help and or advice would be great.

Thanks.

,Nick

i had arp's and they were garbage for aluminum heads..... spend the money and get a set of stage 8 locking bolts and for gaskets your on the right track, go with the more expensive gaskets, i think theyre like 30-40 r sumpin, but the cheaper ones aren't the performance gaskets and are made of cheaper material... for the bolts here you go http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

1" Long Breslin Stainless header bolts and Fel-Pro 1406's here. I couldn't be happier with the combo.

I used the header bolts that came with my headers, I only had one fall out.

Some people say to use Percy's aluminum gaskets, well if a bolt comes loose they still get cooked. So I can't justify $30+ for header gaskets, its all up to you. I'm happy with Fel-pro's.

I like the Earls gaskets, for bolts I used 2" SS allen bolts with 1" brass
spacers. Easy access to tighten and haven't had any issues.

maybe because I'm running shorties the header bolts don't come loose? I just put teflon tape on the bolts BBK supplied, I have had ONE bolt come loose in a little over 2 years.
So is there maybe more vibration with LTs?

Stage 8 and the $30 Summit gaskets.. no problems. Did have an issue with my new dipstick getting along with the Stage 8's, not to mention the passenger side wasn't much fun.

I was told by someone that with the stage 8's on LT1's you couldn't secure the locks, but all you guys seemed to have done it so I'm sure I'll find a way.

I'm ordering most of the things I need from summit, but I can't seem to find the stage 8's for my car. I searched by engine too. Maybe I'm doing it wrong. Can some please supply with a link for them from summit?

Thanks for all the help.

I tried the Percy's aluminum collector gaskets and they BADLY deformed fast and did not seal completely. Tried the Percy's Carbon too, the cheap Mr. Gaskets from the parts store and the supposedly good ones supplied with my clear Image headers.
I finally got tired of wasting money on cheap stuff and am trying the Earl's Pressure Master these only have maybe 200 miles on them but sofar they have stayed nice and tight so I am hopeful, replacement inserts for them are like $25 for the header and under $10 for the collector.
