Default broke valve spring

i bought the lloyd elloit LT1-LE1 package about 7000 miles ago. the car was running great and he does really good work. but i got a ticking noise and a miss then the car made a pop and it seized the motor. i pulled off the valve cover and found a broken valve spring. what would cause the valve spring to break?

and for all the butt hurt people out there i am not saying it was lloyd elliots fault at all. he does awsome work and would recommend him to everybody. i just want to find out what caused the problem so it wont happen again. the only reason i used lloyds name is to let everybody know what set up i am running so that i didnt have to list all my mods.

yes it dropped the valve and jammed things up. in hope to pull the heads off this week and see what all damage it caused. it just might be time to go with a stroker motor.
