Default having problems with the crankshaft pulley?

ok has anyone had any problems taking their crank pulley off of their lt1??? i've tried several different ways to get mine off and it won't budge...the pulley itself will come off if i unbolt the three bolts holding it to that thing on the nose of the crankshaft(don't know what its called). its so hard to get off i have pulled the threads on all three of those holes. so i had to get some longer bolts and put some nuts n the back side of it to try to pull on it with the pulley puller.

thats the only thing keeping me from getting the timing cover, chain, cam and crank out so i can get it to the machine shop. anyone have any suggestions??

you can use a regular puller but you need three bolts with washers and nuts to go through the balancer holes then another bolt to fit inside the crank. the puller will push against the bolt inside the crank. you also have to take out the crank bolt just in case you didnt think you did.

If I remember correctly the hub which is what is not moving has a like washer recess as the bolt is going threw the crank so if you are using to large type of a center on your puller you may actually be holding it on while you are trying to pull it off. Find a bolt 1/2 to an inch longer that the factory balance bolt and thread that in leaving it stick out the extra lenght but in far enough that you have plenty of thread to push with. Put you puller center on this bolt. It should be sticking out the 1/2 to 1 inch that is longer than the factory bolt. These things usually come off

using an actual harmonic balancer puller works well.

use it for the balancer itself, and for the hub.

$300 from GM or $15 from checker/shucks/kragen/wherever

well i got it out, and found out that the reason i didn't see a crank bolt is cause that the head was broken off...so i don't know how that was broken off. but its off now, so that saves some aggrivation, lol
